Aegon nodded in agreement.
"It is not in either of our interests to see you fall Rhaenys and we shall do what needs to be done to see that you remain in your current position. I think even now you do not wholly trust me, but as I have said from the start, the interests and prosperity of our family is always at the forefront of my motives. That doesn't mean I necessarily agree with your decisions all of the time, but disagreement is not necessarily disloyalty."

"Make sure that is it always that way and we shall deal happily together," Rhaenys answered. "And please bear in mind that I cannot make too many exceptions for you simply because we share the same name. Lannister already believes I show too much favour to those with whom I am connected. That is natural in any rule, I believe, but we tread a dangerous path, Aegon, and I cannot afford to give fuel to those who mislike my rule."
She paused.
"Enough of that, I will have to deal with the malcontents soon enough. If you are set upon the Tarth girl, may I suggest you sail back to Kings Landing with me and there speak with Lord Eustace Baratheon? I do not know the girl but she will surely know her liege lord. Win him to your side."

"Very well." replied Aegon.
"I shall return to Kings Landing with you, together with my men. I'll have a proclamation drawn up and sent to my new lands as well as my nephew's, sealed with your Royal Seal, informing them of the new arrangements and commanding the garrisons there to muster at Driftmark. My nephew will take command of those men here and bring them to Kings Landing, if and when they are needed."
"If trouble is afoot, perhaps it might be wise to see my nephew marry his princess here and for them both to remain at Driftmark to enjoy their married life for a short while. At least until he is required to come to Kings Landing."

"If they continue to like one another, I agree," Rhaenys murmured. "But let them take it at their own pace so they are sure of their feelings."

"Then it is settled. When do you wish to leave for Kings Landing?"

"Within the week, but I do wish to spend a little time here first. I promised Aurane I would so I shall. We could also take a brief look at his lands and yours and then you can start to consider where to build your first castle."

"Within the week it is then." Aegon replied. "I shall command my men to make their preparations. All this to and fro-ing from Kings Landing will leave their heads dizzy. In the meantime, I feel sure Lord Velaryon will be delighted to show you and your entourage around Driftmark and his other new lands."

"Excellent. I am curious. I'd like to stay a little logner but there just isn't time."

"I understand. A queen has many duties and cares. And you should be back in Kings Landing before too much longer."

"Yes, especially now. I will make a tour of duty of all my lands in the future but we must make sure the realm is settled first."
