Howland read the note without a change in expression, "As far as I am concerned he did so fifteen years ago, Lord Dondarrion. Is it just suspicion or do you have evidence?"

Howland nodded, "what is the options? Make sure that the King abdicates without war leaving his heir to be the next king? I would be satisfied with that, and we'd have a regent of course for the little king. Of course the regent would need a Hand too. None of the positions interests me in any way, though having friends in those position would of course be beneficial. Would you be such a friend Lord Dondarrion?"

Howland nodded, "To seal our alliance, maybe a marriage would be in place after this ordeal is over?"

"So it begins", Breck said, shaking Royce's hand. "Start raising troops at Runestone, I have already done so at Blackhaven."

Howland stood up, "It will be good getting out of this city at last. Be careful walking in the Red Keep... the stairs are quite dangerous" he said wryly.
