Real anger flares in the Mallister's eyes now, though he does not resist the guards. "A dozen to one in your own hall, against a man with no weapon drawn and of peaceful intent? Is that what passes for honor in the Vale, Lady Aranya? I had thought better of you."
He slowly raises his head to look Aranya in the eye, very conscious of the cold steel against his ear. "I issue a challenge to you, for Rhae. I will meet you, or your son, or any champion you care to name, lance in hand. And should your champion prove the victor, I shall no longer seek Rhae's hand -- indeed, my very life will be for you to do with as you please."

Roland snapped at her. "It's every bit of my business. This is the Bronzehall, and with my father infirm its care and maintenance fall to me! I can assure you, in any case, he would not approve of what you're doing, whatever the reason."
As Mallister offered a challenge, Roland nodded. That'll be one way to settle this.

"I am unarmored, with a sword made for appearances rather than war. And despite your treatment of me, I have no desire to shed blood in the Lord Hand's hall." With her saber finally away from his ear, he rises to his feet and bows, rather stiffly, to Roland.
"I shall send my squire by with arrangements for the combat. Unless you desire to confine me here, my lady?" His words are as stiff as his posture.

Roland nods curtly at the young knight, and awaits Aranya's reply.

Robb's features contorted, wanting badly to accept her challenge there and fight, be she a lady or not. But the proper forms had their reasons, and without them a trial by combat was little more than murder. And he would only have once chance to win Rhae, and would not waste it by rashly rushing into the situation, nor by being provoked to fight without his chosen weapon.
"I shall send my squire by to make arrangements," Robb repeats. He does not trust himself to speak just yet, and wonders whether charges of cowardice will next be leveled against him.

Robb's eyes are uncharacteristically cold. He makes no response to the slight on his honor. "Do I have your leave to go, my lady?"

Robb stalks from the building, fists clenched, and does not look back.

Roland watched the boy go. He turned, eyes cold as steel, to Aranya. "Now, tell me what that was all about."

As she turned to go, Roland said, "Then you are not welcome here. This is Bronzehall, and it is the seat of the Vale here in King's Landing. You do not have leave to do as you will here, so while you are here I will talk to you as I will."

Brandon, having heard the noise, appears in the hall as Roland's words die out. "This can't be any good," he thought while awaiting Aranya's reply.

Lord Irwyn pays a call to the Bronze Hall just before Roland prepares to take his father back to the Vale. He asks to see Roland if he is available.

Lord Irwyn is greeted by a guard who eyes Lord Irwyn's livery before disappearing inside for a moment. The guard returns and then leads the Hand inside. Roland is in the courtyard overseeing the loading of carts when he spies Alex approaching. A dark emotion plays across his face briefly before being masked by a firm set to the jaw.

Cyrus stood behind Roland looking at his regent entering the hall, than he looked to his Uncle.

"Roland," Alexander exclaims walking up to the large Royce. "I am terribly sorry about your Father, Seven help us."
