The Mountains of the Moon form the western border of the Vale, curving in an arc southeastward to make sea landings virtually impossible other than at towns with proper harbors. They have long been considered some of the greatest and most beautiful peaks in the realm and are populated by several clans of wildlings.

One of Ser Marq's knights rides back to him, "Marq, there's a village up ahead, with a moat and stockade around it. I think its a Clannish village."

Ser Marq responds to the knight, "Could you tell if there was any noticeable activity in or around the village, or did you see if the village was bearing some sort of flag?"

The man shook his head, "No banners, just people about. Seems like an awful lot of them from the look of it."

Ser Marq frowns, "Send someone to go keep watch over it for any questionable activity. Then warn the others, we are in unfriendly territory I don't want to fall pray to an ambush."

Ser Marq continues to lead his horse along the path, and some time later comes upon the scouts that were sent to watch over the village and the village itself.

Marq can see the village is much as described. They are still a good distance away, but from the prevalence of furs, the lack of any spun cloth, Marq was pretty sure it was a Clannish village. It had a stockcade, and a taller wooden tower which would pass as a poor knight's holdfast. There were a large number of people about.

Ser Marq keeps watching to see if any of the people looked like slaves or captives from any raids that the clan warriors had recently been on.

He did not see any one that looked like a captive.

Next Ser Marq turns to the scouts, "Have you gotten a count of how many people are down there and how many that would put up a fight during an attack?"

The scout looks at Ser Marq baffled, "How are we supposed to know from here which ones intend to put up a fight? Their Clannish. Even their women some times fight."
