"None. They have all returned now from Driftmark. My nephew Lord Velaryon has remained behind of course. He is seeing to his affairs at Driftmark and setting things to rights."

"Good. I am glad we could settle this little misunderstanding."

Aegon arched an eyebrow again in surprise.
"I wasn't aware there was a misunderstanding. What exactly appeared to be the problem?"

"What appears to be the problem is that your men are here illegally." Euric answered curtly.

"Illegally?" Aegon replied equally curtly. "Since when?"
"My men have been here for some time now. They weren't stopped at the harbor when they arrived back from Driftmark. Before they left for Driftmark, there didn't seem to be a problem with their presence either.
"The Queen was well aware of where my men were and that they were my men. Indeed it was her suggestion that my men assist in the taking of Driftmark. There was no suggestion they weren't to come back with me."

"Her Grace has recently decreed that no man may take more than a hundred men to Kings Landing without her or mine permission. Have your men moved somewhere else as quickly as possible."

"My men arrived before any such decree." the Prince replied.
"Given the Queen is not present and you have the authority in her absence, I would ask that my men be allowed to remain until I am granted my own lands by the Queen. When I leave for my lands, then so shall they. I am told that is likely to be soon."

"Kings Landing is no city in need of sellswords." Euric replied. "If you don't have anywhere for them to stay then I advise you dispand them. Personally, I do not see what use you have for them."

"I do have somewhere for them to stay. They are comfortably billeted in and around my manse. They cause no disturbance and indeed the small folk are grateful for their coin in the local inns and other local establishments and their protection against thieves and other criminals."
"it would be a simple matter for you to agree to their staying in the short term. Yet you do not. Why is that?"

"Why do you need three hundred men to guard your manse?" Euric answered with a question.

"My men accompany me and I am in Kings Landing at the moment. If I had a thousand men or more, then that of course would be a different matter. I would have to billet them outside the city. There would not be room. However in a city of at least half a million inhabitants - and possibly up to a million according to some maesters, three hundred men is, I do believe, not excessive.

"According to the new law it is, so you will move two hundred of your men out of the city at once." Euric answered, his face stern.

"Very well." Aegon said coldly. "Clearly my men are unwelcome for whatever reason. A reason I cannot fathom, but I shall quit the city as you demand."

"See to it then." Euric replied, his tone closing.
