Rhaenys entered, hoping Selwyn was present.

He was not but he entered behind her. "I saw you coming this way. Rolf let me in." He moved to a bottle of wine, and poured out a glass.

"Pour one for me too," Rhaenys said.
She looked uncertainly at him. They'd spent little time together at Harrenhal, owing to their various duties, and hadn't shared a bed since leaving Moat Cailin,
"Lord Dawnrose came to see me before we left Harrenhal," she told him. "He mentioned Heartsbane. I assume the blade is still in your keeping?"

Selwyn walked over and gave her the one glass and nodded, "Of course."

She sipped delicately at the wine.
"Do you plan to wield the blade yourself, or are you merely keeping it safe for now?"

Selwyn shook his head, "It is not mine. If there was another Tarly, I would find him and give it to him. Should I arrange for an investigation into their blood lines?"

"Pplease," Rhaenys said. "I'd rather see the blade go to someone who has the right to it but I wouldn't have minded if you'd wanted to keep it for yourself. Lord Dawnrose told me the blade was split in two once, and that my goodbrother's Blackwood grandmother owned one half of it. I'm of a mind to give the blade to Talyn, if no Tarlys can be found."

Selwyn simply nodded.

His brief response was not encouraging. Rhaenys felt awkward as a silence fell between them. She felt safer when one of them was speaking and was all too conscious now that they'd not shared a bed since Moat Cailin. She knew now, given her discomfort, that it had been a mistake.
"It looks like Ariel and Ser Owen will have to share our wedding day now, as well as Liliyana and Martyne," she said. "Do you object to that?"

"I told you that it does not matter to me." Selwyn replied.

His nonchalance annoyed her.
"I wanted to be sure. Ths is our wedding, you should have an opinion. Actually, I think we'll have our wedding one day, and the Coronation too. Liliyana and Ariel can marry the day afterwards."
She stopped and gave him a long look.
"Have I offended you somehow?"

Selwyn stared at her a moment, then he slowly said, "No." He raised his hand to his disfigured face. "Your arrangements are perfectly acceptable."

"Good. I have got my women preparing a special cloak for the ceremony. I'll wear my dragon cloak to begin with but it's not fitting for me to wear a Baratheon one like a normal maiden on her wedding day, since most women take their husband's name and I won't be."
She blatantly ignored the fact that she was not a maiden. It was the custom that counted here.
"So...you will give me a parti-coloured cloak. Half will be my own colours and half yours, to symbolise the alliance of Targaryen and Baratheon and the children we'll have together. The stag will have its due, Selwyn, I promise you that."

Selwyn shrugged, "I am not truly Baratheon any more. My brother is lord, and if I allow myself to think of that as my house, we will come into conflict."
