"Very likely. Why did the monarch give them to you?"

She thought.
"I think it was for services for the crown. I fear I cannot remember off the top of my head, but Im sure that there are records somewhere of what happened. If not, my Lord husband will surely know.
"Your Grace for all the bad news that spreads about us as a nation, we do not betray the 'hospitality' of any place, nor do we plot to murder people on the wedding day." She still seethed about that incident. "If we do take on somewhere we treat the citizen's with dignity and respect, unless they attack us first. Of course we are not saints but we do no less then any conquering army when we raid."

"I suppose not. I fear that is something I cannot prevent, though I'd wish to," Rhaenys sighed. "I have no sympathy for rapists and robbers but such is the world. I will want to know exactly how the Iron Islands got hold of the Shields so that I am full possessions of the facts, but there is time for that."
Her expression turned more serious than ever.
"Tell me what occured at your wedding. I meant to be in attendance but duty detained me. I would know who dares insult us by profaning the sanctity of a wedding."

She gave a truly sickenly sweet smile. "Some dead man decided to try to disrupt the celebrations. Amazing how a tentful of iron born can quickly stop an assasination. The weapon they used though is well... one of a kind... and in truth if it wasnt for Ragnor, I doubt that I would be here today."

"Then we both owe lord Greyjoy our thanks," Rhaenys said. "Tell me about the weapon."

"A crossbow of decidedly unique design. After shooting the arrows inicially when it was taken it had two new arrows waiting. But tht will be sorted. nobody will ruin my weddng and get away with it Your Grace."

"You have some idea of who the culprit was already?"

"I dont as yet." She atmitted. "But Im sure it will be someone who dispises us., and maybe even one of our Lords, that have decided that they dont want Ragnor or I in a position of power."

Rhaenys thought for a moment.
"is your sickly sister the only remaining Harlaw? Or...did your father have close allies who would resent his death?"

She hid her smile. "Your Grace, my Father and I hated each other, as far as I know his death will be blamed on me and his 'friends' want me dead so that my sister can marry for the Harlaw name. But as we've been ighting I dont know whats been happening, I think thats why Ragnor went back.
"Im sure that over the years he's known me my Father has spread lies of what Im like, You heard him at his execution, even cheap tricks like that sow distrust in men, as Im sure you are well aware yourself."

"I am," Rhaenys agreed. "I am merely trying to think who is most likely to have interfered with your wedding. They must be caught and severely punished."

"Oh they will be." Ganieda said. "I would go as far as say I will do it myself."

Rhaenys thought about the legal implications of that for a moment then nodded.
"I won't deny you that. Do you need my assistance in finding the man responsible?"

"Prehaps your Grace. The people the sent had no markings on them, so i cannot identify their race. But I'm sure that the person wont rest on a blotched attempt. I believe that Ragnor is on alert too."

"You fear a second attack?"
A chill settled over Rhaenys. She'd hoped that the combined gratitude of Ganieda and Ragnor would give her the loyalty of the Iron Islands, or at least enough of it to deflect the more hot-heated of their fellows.
"I cannot allow any harm to come to one of my guests," Rhaenys said. "You msut go nowhere without my men to protect you."
