Ryen walked along the ramparts, he was not unfamiliar with this place as he had spent much of his childhood and his younger years studying from the knights. He brushed off a piece of dirt from his shoulder until he reached one of the towers. He ascended the winding staircase until he reached where the lord was staying and announced his presence formally, "Lord Ryen Redfort, bidding to see the Lord Royce." He was unarmed, and did not expect to be fighting any wights anymore, nor anyone for the time being.

Redfort is shown in. The two families have been close.

"Good day my lord." He said with a dutiful nod. "I did not want to approach you until we settled. But the recent events are disturbing. Has the king turned his back on his men?"

"The King knelt to Saella Targaryen, and feels honorbound to serve the daughter." Brynden replied, "He thinks he can aid her in effectively ruling the Kingdom."

Ryen arches an eyebrow. "Was this of his own will my lord? Targaryen's have always had many tricks and devices to sway men. It is hard to think that the king would hand over the kingdom to a foreign slit with oversized lizards." His tone and manner remained calm but in his head he envisioned several poetic means of inflicting death upon the invaders.

Brynden shook his head, "He knelt because of the Dragons, to save his realm, and he has always been honorable. They have not tricked him, he is locked in by his own code."

"Given time we could have joined them and pushed the enemy back. He knelt to Saella, but he knelt again to this other. My family has always stood by the king's my lord, through his father's reign which many deem tumultuous. I stand by the King as well, though I will not pledge service to the woman nor any dragon."

"What do you propose then if the King will not rule. We can not make him be King, and Eustace is next in line, and I would rather have that Dragon bitch." Brynden shrugged and leaned back in his chair.

"Nothing my lord. It seems we are bound as he. Though, why do we idle here then, and not stand by the king if we are his men."

Royce sighed, "I wanted to make a point to my King. Show him my determination. But you are probably right. Would you want to take some men back to support Selwyn?"

"I can take the few of my men that have proved resilient in this conflict. I would not impose on you my lord. A Redfort is a King's man, I think he will understand that message, and yours my lord. If you believe I am better able to serve here by your side then so be it." He bowed his head.

Brynden chuckled, "I made my point. And we destroyed the last wights months ago. Go and show that we support out King, no matter how he asks us to."

"Yes my lord," Ryen clicked his heels together, "I will make ready to ride as soon as possible. Hopefully he does not order me to kneel for the Queen, that will be my greatest test."

"Good. Try not to kneel." He replied, and turned away.

Ryen turned on his heel and strode out. Once the riders were gathered he rode as tall as he ever did on his journey back to his King.
