Ariel shrugged. "Well, it's quite refreshing sometimes to teach a sweet, innocent young woman the art of love," she responded. "More to the point, the unschooled virgin's first child can be clearly born from the father, so there won't be any stupid, messy paternity disputes. Or at least that's what the men like to think." She chuckled. "Three things never trust in, a maiden sworn as pure, the vows a king has given, and an ambush that is sure." Pause. "I forget which poem I heard that from."
She sighed. "But few marriages are made for love's sake, and for those marriages where love doesn't grow, everyone looks the other way when the husband finds someone else. It's worse for the wife; as I said, a woman must not be caught compromising herself in the Andal kingdoms."

"I have not experienced love. Well, I love my mother and father, and my brothers and sister. But not in another way as some others have described their feelings." She went a little bit red, from as much as the wine as the conversation that they delved into now. "It always seems much harder for the woman here. It is somewhat the same in the Free Cities, but, I think there is some more liberty." Shah clutches her cup in both hands, "So do you think you will find a husband to love?"

Ariel shrugged and sipped. "Who knows. I may find love, but it's as like, or more, to be with a woman as with a man. And even among the Dornish, two women may not wed. Of course, as I could simply take a paramour of my choice as well, I'm not worried about whether we are wed before the Seven's eyes."

"I would not argue against those wishes." Shah imagined holding Ariel and comforting her like she wanted to do before. "Mm, it is a good plan. I follow the Lrod of Light, but am not entirely familiar with the texts. Love is an important part about carrying the fire so to speak, I could not see the Lord frowning on a happy union."

Ariel looked at Shahrizai. "The texts of R'hllor I have read are somewhat different than those you know, I would wager. The wielding of blood, flame and shadow have much to do with sex, and little with love, I fear." She sighed, then smiled. "But it's the case that nearly all the true gods are more concerned with love than with who the love is with."

"Yes. It is sad. I can see a part of what that Dyther man was saying, to become our own gods and godesses, to break free of constraints and live for ourselves. Then again, he does not have much responsibility." She chuckled and searched Ariel's eyes for a moment.

Ariel grinned. "Well, of course I'm a goddess, but I'm sure you could tell that just by looking at me." She twirled a lock of silver hair around her finger. "But more seriously, I was not built to live only for myself."

"I know, the devotion you show you cousin proves that. I'm glad I'm getting to know more about you. I'm sure that would come as a revelation to many, that you don't only live for yourself." She tittered and set the wine cup down for the time being. Shah tilted her head, "You do have the looks and mind to qualify I think."

Ariel chuckled. "Few would even know what it means to live for others, so that is a face I need not show. They understand the ice-bitch who could cut their hearts out without a twitch on her face, not the woman who would really rather just spend her days in the Water Gardens, playing and making love and watching her children grow. So I must be ice, rather than fire. At least for now."

"Water Gardens?I know Dorne was much more suitable in terms of climate than this place. And well, you are not so icy now, and I am glad for it." She smiled.

Ariel smiled. "The Water Gardens were a palace built long ago as an extravagance by a Targaryen prince for his Dornish wife. Surrounded by desert, but there there is green, and there are pools and fountains everywhere. Children from all stations in life play without regard for rank; I was one of those. It's a very comforting place, and I rather envy the Prince for having it."

"It sounds like paradise princess. I'll be sure to visit it if I am welcome there. Perhaps you can even show me the place yourself and I could return the favour in some way."

Ariel smiled. "You'd have to ask the Prince of Dorne about that. Though with Horas' condition, it'll be the Princess soon enough. And where would you think to take me?"

She nods her head slowly. "I will be sure to ask permission from the Martells if I were to go there." She rubs her neckline, "As for returning the favour, my home in Myr perhaps and the part of the city I grew and perhaps the city's hall. They'd be honoured to have a guest such as you."

Ariel nodded. "Maybe. There's still so much to see even in Westeros," she responded. "But before tourism, there's still a year or more in tents."
