"Who is the message from, Morrigen? Is it verbal or written?" The woman asks. She does not bother to identify herself yet.

"Princess Kyma appears to have absconded with Ser Owen Lannister's prized horse a few days ago. The Queen wanted some people to attempt to find her, and I volunteered to inform the vanguard that she had gone missing."

The woman's mouth opens is a small "O" of surprise. "Ah... I see. As far as I know no patrols have reported spotting any women riding alone. But the vanguard is now so informed. I'll take the message to my commander forthwith. You can report to your commander that Lysa Penny, one of Ser Talyn's captains, heard your message and has promised that it will be relayed immediately to her commander."

"Duly noted. Any nearby camps? A hot meal'd do me well on the long road back."

Lysa Penny shook her head, "Nay, the Vanguard is not in camp, any longer. We're already moving south to Winterfell. We're riding back here to watch our tail as we go. You'd be better off heading back for your hot meal."

Dyther pulls a pouch of tobacco out and lights a pipe. "Fair enough." He makes sure it's well lit and wheels his horse about. "See you in hell or Fell Lysa Penny." His voice is amused. He urges his mount back up the long road.

"Curious man," Penny said, before turning her patrol around, and continuing off.

They are intercepted by the Van's rear patrols. William Hill is commanding.
"Halt and identify yourselves," the man says as the troop of horsemen approaches the search party.

Borcas stops and raises a hand for the rest to stop as well.
"Borcas Redwyne, assigned by Queen Rhaenys to find her sister, Princess Kyma. This is Lady Jeyne Ladybright, of the Queensguard and this is Ser Owen Lannister, whose horse the princess... is using. We would like to speak with your commander."

William Hill grunted, "Aye, a courier came through this way a few days ago and gave us the word. We've been telling our patrols to keep an eye out since. You think that Princess is stupid ah..." he nodded at the Queensguard, "is likely to head this way? She's gotta know the whole army is headed down to Winterfell one way or the other."

"Aye, we think it is more than likely. We found some traces leading this way when we started from Castle Black and there were no tracks leaving the road. It is more than likely, also, that she would try to mix with people, as she wouldn't possibly be able to survive to the wilderness alone for long. You say that your patrols hadn't spotted her, though?"

"Nay, not so far as I'd heard. We're practically at Winterfell now though, so we've been making preparations for that. Frankly no one really expects to see anyone following behind us who ain't supposed to be. Ser Talyn just likes being by the book. hence.." he gestured at the compliment of horsemen.
"Anyway, if you'll follow me."

Hill motions for the small search party to follow, and the riders bring them up into the column of men marching south toward Winterfell.
As the patrol approaches, Talyn Thatcher rides forward to meet it.
