"I have," Rhaenys confirmed. "The announcements will be made shortly, but I know I can trust you two with the information. I chose Lord Marbrand."

Corwyn nodded. "I would still recommend keeping the man under watch; you cannot trust anyone these days." Euric slowly stood and made for the tent exit. "Your grace, by your leave I will go to the forest and start a fire, to see what my sight may show me."

She wondered who she was to set to spy on the spymaster, though it was a good suggestion when her reign was so new and most of the lords relatively unknown to her.
"That would be good. I wish you had more information, though. The dreams are clearly a warning that people are not all they seem though unfortunately they tell us almost nothing in themselves."

Euric left and Corwyn gave Rhaenys a mysterious smile. "They tell us far more than you think; they give us a warning, and in the first dreams case an event. If interpreted correctly they give us plenty of information." His smile withered. "Dark dreams they were and I hope Euric sees something that might add to it..."

"I will add my hopes to yours," Rhaenys said, more worried than she let on. "But tell me, please, I don't understand this business of green dreams or seeing things in fire. How can you be sure what is a prophesied event and what is...symbolic?"

"It is like water and air." Corwyn replied. "You know the difference between the two; how water feels against your skin, how air is almost untouchable. I can feel the difference between a normal dream and one sent by the gods."

"In your sleep? That is...strange. Nevertheless, I am glad you are for me and not against me. Why do you have these dreams? I would understand how it works."

"I follow the old gods, and they sometimes chose to grant visions to certain people. It is a gift, something not everyone has, and I am very honoured to have it... though it is a curse too."

She thought of the darkness of the visions he'd told her about and shuddered. A curse indeed.
"I am sure that it must be. Well then, you and I have more in common than you may think, Corwyn Storm. We Targaryens are cursed with the taint of madness in our veins and I don't see how that can ever be a blesssing. Such is the price we pay for power, beauty and dragons, I suppose. You are Ser Euric's friend, Corwyn, will you be mine also?"

"One can only hope you do not develop this madness your grace." His mysterious smile returned then and his mossy green eyes focused on hers. "I follow whomever Euric follows, and if he calls you friend then so do I."

"Good. Have you perhaps foreseen anything else pertaining to the dangers we face?"

Corwyn shook his head. "We should count those two dreams as a true blessing. I will let you know when I dream more."

"Thank you. If it ever comes to such a pass that one of your dreams saves the life of myself or one of my kin, well, you shall know a queen's gratitude. I swear it by all the gods old and knew and on my mother's memory."

In reply Corwyn nodded thankfully.

Rhaenys thanked him again and left.
