Typical greenlander marginalization of the intricacies of Ironborn culture.

Yeah, Creyon seems pretty Iron-y to me. Ah, okay then, I just wasn't sure what you meant by mechanical. Although it might we worth keeping in mind that Ironborn use a longship and an axe, and not much more. In the books, I think Theon's favourite weapon is the bow, and there is 'The Reader' Rodrik Harlaw, who had an impressive library in the Book Tower at Ten Towers. Someone like Creyon will certainly be in the minority, but windlasses/winches are commonly used on ships (and castle gates, wells etc) so I don't think it is a stretch that an Iroborn could take interest in the workings of such contraptions.

Hey citizens, I'm probably entirely forgotten at this stage (due to RL and work and crap couldn't log on consistently) but anyway I'm hoping to get back into the game and considering either an IB character or a Westerling. Just wondering if there's any Westerling geneaology I'm missing, or can I go with my own creative licence here? All the search function yielded unto me was the odd marriage in another family's geneaology etc.

Hmmm I can't remember them ever being total explored.
Randal Lannister the former Regent of the West was married to one and had his first as one for a bit. I can't remember his name for the life of me but this was all 30-20 years ago IG.
So I think you have pretty much a clean slate.

Only recent mention of the Westerlings that I can recall is that Tyberion's younger half-brother, Piers Lannister, is squiring with one of them.

Hi all. I'm new to LoW. I'm interested in playing as a Redwyne, but I'm not sure what's going on. Probably as one of Luke Redwyne( first son of Ser Barris Redwyne and Catelyn Costeyne, if I figured this out right) or as Alexander Redwyne( brother of Luke). As far as I've seen they're neither NPCs nor PCs, and they must be approximattely 30 and 26 years old. But I don't know the condition of the Far Reach( and pretty much the rest of Westeros at that particular point). Also I don't know their family as well as personal history. I'm thinking something about a well educated and diplomatic character, while his second would be a maester. I'm more or less familiar with the general events of the game, thanks to Ser Owen's Corbray help, but I don't know how I could fit in in such a way. So, a little more help will be highly appreciated.

I think someone tried to play Luke Redwyne at one point, but Alexander should be clear for use.
Barris Redwyne lived abroad at Myr for most of his life were he was a successful trader. In reality he was a spy for the Far Reach but that is not generally known. His children were brought up there. This may help explain why you character is unfamiliar with some current events on the mainland.
The Far Reach was created after the Reach Rebellion, and the Hightowers were made the Lord Parmount under the regency of a man named Francis Varner. (who was my character.) After Francis died, the regency passed to his friend and knight Alexander Irwyn, who is lord of Uplands. Irwyn was later made hand, and assassinated by Cedric Lannister. During that period, the Hightower boy came of age, and ruled the Far Reach. the Far Reach later rebelled against the Crown, along with the Vale, The Riverlands, the Iron Islands and some of the Stormlands after the King murdered the Lord of Vale, Roland Royce. They lost this rebellion, and Justin Hightower was killed.
The Regency of the Far Reach passed then to Loren Irwyn, who was the son of Alexander Irwyn, and Justin Hightower's childhood friend.
The Far Reach has had a history of being isolationist, and suspicious of the other regions but that is changing now. It is also a very religious area, since the Starry Sept is located there.

Thanks! I am one step away of starting. Luke Redwyne- what has become of him? I 've read everything I could find, but after he enters Oldtown's harbor, he seams to just dissapear Well, if he stopped playing after that, I guess he's just sitting there at Oldtown, trading wine. Is that right?

Ok, thank you all. I've posted Alexander, as well as my second, on the Character creation thread. I'm unsure though if I must wait for approval of the admin. or If I can just start playing.

Persuasion and diplomacy are effectively one skill. I'd suggest bumping up swordfighting. It's one of the more useful skills in the game.

I think it's also fair to say that you don't need two separate skills for Languages
