Bealor decides to speak, "It would seem that the mans new Lord would be the right choice for the man to go speak. If the man has any brains or honor he should give up the Keep."

Monterys leaned back in his seat, casting a knowing glance at Mallister. Moving his eye around the room of lords, he caught Dudley's eye, raising a sardonic eyebrow.
Monterys crossed his arms behind his head.
"Not everyone is blessed with such qualities Lord Dawnrose. However even if the castellan does possess them, he may also be blessed with another trait - loyalty. Loyalty to his captured master for example. Loyalty can often over-ride brains and some even equate loyalty with honor. If that is the case, then why would the castellan surrender the keep?"

The young Velaryon glanced around at the assembled lords who had remained quiet. He sighed.
"Very well my lords. I am willing to volunteer to treat with the castellan - whoever he is. However I won't enter the keep. He and I must meet in full view of both forces, under a flag of truce - to be observed strictly by both sides. If you are agreeable to those arrangements Lord Mallister and the castellan is also amenable, then let us proceed."

Dudley nodded with a knowing smile and looked to Lord Mallister. He would pat Monterys on the back at the end of this coming-together.

Mallister nods. "Good. Our forces will move on the morrow. One way or the other, Driftmark will be ours by the end of the week."

Monterys is shown in to see Lord Mallister. Several other commanders and lords are present.
"Ah, Lord Velaryon," Stafford says as Monterys enters, "Did they surrender or will we have to kill the bastards?"

Monterys gave a short bow of respect to the Commander and the other lords present.
"I am pleased to report Lord Commander that the garrison of Driftmark will surrender to our forces peacefully in three days from now. Naturally I offered them and their immediate families life and limb as well as acceptance back into the King's peace and law. That of course is conditional upon the members of the garrison swearing allegiance to the King as rightful King of Westeros and also to myself as rightful Lord of Driftmark."

"Huzzah!" Dudley cheered as Monterys announced the surrender of the keep. He maintained a joyous smile as his friend continued to deliver the news. His thoughts then began to wander. He thought first of home and family - things he had not seen in months.
He looked to Lord Mallister, as he ultimately held control over proceedings.

Mallister nodded, and turned away.

Monterys grinned at Dudley's cheer, but as Lord Mallister turned to leave, his grin faded.
"My lord Mallister.." he said, although he was also addressing the other lords that were present. "The castellan of Driftmark keep has suggested to me that Barclay's family and those of his more loyal retainers left the island some time ago, probably for those rebel holdings that have not submitted to the King's authority - Sharps Point, Sweetport Sound and Claw Island.
"Could I ask what your plans are to bring these holdings back under the authority of the King?"

Tyberion, present with a few of his trusted men, throws in, "We should strike at them immediately. Make examples of the fools."

Dudley's face dropped. All hope of an early return home was suddenly disintegrating in front of his eyes.
"How many men would you estimate hold these rebel holdings in total Monterys?" he asked, trying to be heard above a few voices speaking at once.

Monterys spread his hands in a gesture that indicated he didn't know.
"However my lords..." he said. "I agree with Lord Tyberion. We should strike immediately and end any resistance from any remnants of Barclay's forces once and for all."

Mallister paused, "Of course. Make way."
