This is my proposal for an attack on the Shield Islands. I'm interested to hear what folks think.
1. The Transport Ships from the Crakehall/Pyke invasion, will travel south, and pick up troops from the castle town of Bandallon. We shall move 8,000 men to board ships there.
2. Lord Rindwynd will commandeer every available fishing boat pleasure barge or other vessel, to help facilitate his crossing of 15,000 men from Highgarden.
3. The recently consolidated Redwyne fleet (50 ships) will present themselves for battle against the Iron Fleet at the Shields. Unlike our fleet, the ironborn have no catapults on their ships. So our ships will fire, than flee, playing hit and run to lead the Iron born as far from the shield islands as possible.
4. While that is going on, the transport ships/commandeer vessels will begin landing troops to retake the shields.
5. When the islands have been retaken, a bonfire will be lit, signaling success, and the fleet will break off contact, and flee.
Thoughts?

It would be impossible for Rind to take all his men as there would be Ironborn ships to stop his barges going across.
Also I have an idea about men not wearing armor as they cross why don't they take some Mail Shirts in like the back of the boat and once they get on land put them on then attack.

The Iron ships will be chasing the Reach fleet, and so won't be available to intercept the crossing. (ideally).
I would like to infiltrate troops, but i don't think we'd be able to bring enough to win back the islands.

The Ironborn only have 8000 men. But thats Sailor/soldiers if we caused there fleet to be distracted that would use a lot of there men and there would only be a token force left.
Another problem I have seen is how would Rindwynd know if the distraction worked?

But how would he see that from the Mainland. Send out a scout ship that might raise the alarm that men could be coming from that direction.

Well than it may be best to infiltrate a few men onto the islands to give notice that the ships have left.

Yea that would work. Will I can't think of anything else to say about it right now.
By the way I wasn't saying this was a bad plan or anything with my comments this is hell of a lot better then anything I could ever come up with.

Try striking a deal with them? I mean, Seth would be an ideal mediator as he is both a Reachman and Iron Born.

Except that they killed a bunch of people and burned down buildings and what not.

I don't think it would be a great idea to launch an attack on the Iron Islands.

Fine, let the Reaches go unavenged.
