Wounded for the second time in as many battles, although this time not as seriously, Monterys Velaryon sat bowed upon his horse, as the King's army retreated towards Kings Landing.
Sore and sorry, he was still pleased that he had made a better effort than his first battle at Skiffs' Vale. Mayhap the King would begin to notice him, if he continued to fight well.

"You!" Rodrick roars, as Galahad enters the tent. "Where the hell were you? Where the hell were you when Cedric Lannister tried to murder my wife and children?!"

Galahad enters and bows to the king. "The late Lord Commander Peregrin sent me North, in an attempt to arrive at the trial for your late brother, Rickon. I was to ensure that no foul play occured during the trial," Galahad said, offering papers of order.
"I have taken it upon my return to see it that her grace, the Queen and the royal children were not left to the traitors, as I have retrieved them from behind the enemy lines. They are in an erected tent now, though they are shaken, your grace."

Rodrick's massive fist slams into Galahad's jaw, sending him falling to the ground. The papers fly out of his hand, unnoticed.
"Don't give me your fucking excuses!" Rodrick bellows. "Get the fuck out of my tent! And if anything happens to Selyse, I am hanging you."

Galahad stands and shakes it off. He looks Rodrick in the eye and says, "I wouldn't allow it, your grace."
'I'm not the type to bring my loved ones to war, then abandon them in a retreat.'
He looked for any more thrown punches, and when they didn't come, he turned on his heel and left the tent.

Lord Commander Shadd Trant grins as Galahad exits the tent, looking at Galahad's fresh black eye. "Certainly looks like Roddy was happy to have you back," he smirks.

"I did not notice," Galahad says lightly, resting his sights on Trant for a moment.
"It's a shame."
He left it at that, letting the comment linger in the air.

"It's a shame, Lord Commander," Trant corrects him, sneering cruelly. "You know, Galahad, I never figured you for such a fucking craven. Running away like that, leaving your sworn brothers..." Shadd shakes his head.
"So what's your punishment to be? I'd say you should go dig the shitholes with the levies, but that might be letting you off too easy."

"I was following orders." From a better man. "I was doing my duty in protecting the royal family, Lord Commander," Galahad said through clenched teeth. "I recall saving the Queen and the royal offspring from the Valemen, when your retreat was ordered. Lord Commander."
He regretted Peregrin's death now more than ever.

"Orders? What fucking orders? Peregrin didn't say anything about any orders to me." Shadd sneers. "Usually the punishment for desertion is death, but since you're my brother, and you did come back... maybe ol' Shadd can let you off easy." Trant chuckles. "So... a flogging. How many lashes is a good number, do you think?"

"I had," Galahad began. "Papers of orders... however, Rodrick has them in his tent at the moment. I do not think a flogging is necessary, Lord Commander."

"Well ain't that just like you, Gally. Afraid of a little pain, so you're taking the craven's way out. But since we're friends, how about I make you a deal. You get down on your belly and kiss my boot, and I'll let you off without any lashes at all." Shadd smirks.

"You are mistaken, Lord Commander. We are brothers," Galahad says shortly. "Though I question. Where were you during all the fighting? You weren't on the field and you were not with the royal family."

"Just cause you didn't see me, Gally, don't mean I wasn't there." He grins. "So is it to be the lashes? I'm thinking 20... no, 25."

"This depends. What is the crime?"
