"Your of the opinion that I should be concerned Lord Dondarrion?" Justin said, sipping his wine.

Breck ignored the comment. "What is your opinion on Lord Lannister, Lord Hightower?"

"Officially he is a Lord Paramount of substantial wealth and capability. Unofficially, my region seethes, from the smallest waif to the toothless crone for what he did to our beloved Alexander. We've no abundance of fondness for Lannisters after Deep Den, its no secret."

"So you believe those rumors? I fought in the Basilisk War, but I never wholly believed everything I heard."

"My good lords Tarly and Blackbar saw the body. He had not a scratch on him from that Basilisk's polearm. But he had half a dozen crossbow bolts in his back. not one, not two, but six. Lord Cedric even told Greenstone that his men had fired the shots, but named it an accident. Six accidents. We pride ourselves on our learning in Oldtown Lord Dondarrion."

Breck frowned. "Well then", he said as he repositioned himself. "That makes it a completely different matter." He thought for a moment, and then reached out, gesturing to Hightower, "If you knew he was killed by Lannister, why have you never pressed charges or sought vengeance?"

"He was made the Hand of the King immediately afterwards." Justin said, "It was not a case likely to succeed. Any vengeance we took would have been tantamount to treason. So we bit our lips and suffered in silence."

"I have been Hand for fifteen years, Lord Hightower, and assure you that Lord Cedric had to leave the position vacant for me to assume it. Do you not trust my judgment as Hand?"

"Lord Dondarrion, with all respect, we can not successfully convince King Rodrick to audit Cedric's finances, let alone try him for a murder. I would rather have Lord Alexander's fate go unavenged than have it made a mockery before the court."

"Sometimes justice is best complete beyond the King's sight." Breck said, eying Hightower.

"There may be cases when that was so." Hightower agreed amiably. "Sparing his grace from troubles is what loyal lords are meant for."

"Lord Dondarrion," Justin nodded, "Is there aught else I can assist you with?"
