"Lord Hightower", Breck says extending his hand, "It is not for reasons of great importance that I came here tonight. Rather, I simply had one question I wished to ask you in person."

"I beg your pardon milord? To what questions are you seeking answers? Wine? Arbor Gold, not that Dornish, or that watered down crap they import from abroad."

"Arbor Gold sounds fine. I stopped drinking wine decades ago...early into my regency over Rodrick." He cleared his throat as Justin prepared the drinks. "I came to ask you whether you had consulted the King on the matter of limiting and splitting up Barclay's power in the eastern isles."

"The business with dissolving the Lord Paramount position for the Crownlands? No milord, I have not spoken to his grace since the wedding feast. I take it that set not well with you, his being a relative?"

Breck nodded, "His being a relative, his being a loyal vassal of the King, his coming from a family that sacrificed much for the royal family. The list goes on, but my patience can no longer. Fifteen years of following Rodrick's shit-for-laws, has been stressed beyond repair." He downed the wine quickly and continued, "And here I am swearing even before I've drank any."

"You said that you hadn't drank wine while while serving as the Hand of the King. Why start this evening?" Hightower asked as he poured two glasses, and handed one to Dondarrion.

Breck looked up from his glass, "Dornish wine, I meant. My apologies." He kept sipping at it. When he had made some progress he looked up from the glass, "You know I appointed you as Master of Coin? I'm pleased with my decision. You've done the realm well. And more of your work would have met better success had it not been for the King." Breck let his head down on his hand, but in such as quick and violent way that he may have been slapping himself, "What am I saying, he is above all our King and my blood kin."

"Honest council is never criminal Lord Dondarrion, despite what others might say. And Lord Rodrick's financial decisions have required creative accountancy, I can say that and speak the truth without fear."

Breck nodded and hid his face in the cup for a moment.

"Lord Dondarrion, I am under the impression that you have something you'd like to say but don't know where to begin."

"Almost correct, Lord Hightower. I had something to say, but don't know where to continue."

"What you are about to say seems important. I think you should simply say it. There are only two people in the room. So even if I were to relate your story to another, and I would not violate your confidence in that way, they would have no reason to believe me, over the Hand of the King. So either I will be in agreement with you, in which case your secret is safe, or I will be in disagreement, but in a position where my knowing makes little difference in any case."

"I think you draw out more importance in this meeting than I originally sought for it to have. My only question was answered, and I remain here at your hospitality only because I enjoy your company. Whether I harbor any dislike for my cousin, or his worth as King is irrelevant. He is no tyrant, no mad man worthy of deposition."

Justin raised his eyebrow. "You just said you had something to say,but were unsure of whether to continue. I than proceed to assure you that your thoughts spoken aloud here would not be subjected to any retelling, and you reply by attempting to assure me as to your opinion about his grace. I will admit, Lord Dondarrion, that I am rather confused. I do wish though, that you would trust me now, as you did when you appointed me."

Breck shook his head. "I had something to say, and said it. The matter of Lord Barclay was all I came for. Is there something bothering you that you'd wish to speak of? Perhaps Lady Plumm's dismissal and the appointment of this Thadeus character?"
