"Master Briar, a pleasure to meet you. This is Master Flea." Justin said, gesturing towards the hoooded man. "He will discuss the matter with you in whatever detail is necessary, detail which I'd just as soon avoid. When you're finished he'll speak with me, and I will have him pass to you my final thoughts, so that you make that message to your Lord. Does that seem fair?"

Briar nodded, eager to discuss.

Justin nodded, and than retired from the room.
"Allow me to cut through any awkwardness by saying what we both know. The King of Westeros, after jailing his own Lord Paramount without trial for fifteen years, murdered him in cold blood. What does Lord Dondarrion think should be done about that?" Flea began, lacing his fingers together in front of his face.

"Lord Dondarrion believes that the King is not beyond the law. He must face the due punishment for his crimes, or otherwise abdicate the throne in favor of his son", Caron said openly.

Flea laughed, although his expression was solemn. "The King is above the law. He'll not submit to justice unless he is not the King. So it would require forcing him to abdicate, or otherwise violently removing him from power. Congratulations on our mutual having committed treason. Was it good for you too?" The man let a wisp of a smile cross his lips.
"I do not believe with the Kingsguard around him, not to mention his twelve friends, any quick and limited effort to... remove Rodrick from power would succeed. And by limited, I mean assassinating him. Do you concur?"

Caron thought for a moment. "What of the goldcloaks?"

"What of them? You can bribe them to sit it out if you like, That'd be wise enough. But even Horas Blackwood didn't convince them to fight, and he gave them monstrous sums just to hold themselves aloof. You'd end up with King's Landing and not much else. Same as Blackwood did. The Lords that rally to his side will march, and it will be civil war."

"The King loves to drink. Why not poison his cups?"

The cowled face darkened still more, if that was possible.
"Poison is the foulest act any man can perpetrate. Snakes and scorpions poison their enemies, not men. If you can't get him with a sharp knife, he don't need to be gotten." Flea's teeth were showing through in a grin smile, clearly his dander was up. "I'd say some times sunlight is the best disinfectant. Publicly declare Rodrick's injustice and tyranny. State our refusal to abide by his rule until he abdicates. He will of course refuse. He'll call for his loyal lords to go to war against us? But which lords? It should be your Stormlands, the The Far Reach, and the Vale. Mayhaps the Iron Islands will rise with us. I think they would. The West I imagine will sit out. They've taken preciously little interest in Rodrick's rule so far, why risk their soldiers to protect him? So You'd be risking the Dornish, the Riverlands, the North, the Mander, and of course the Crownlands, which would of course have to deal with your friend Barclay before they could march. The Dornish may marshal themselves to the Prince's Pass and the Boneway, but they've not had the stomach to come further before, I doubt they'll start now. The North will take time to muster, and it can not march south of the Bloody Gate without risking its rear, so they must face the Vale. Which should be able to last a long time. The Riverlands can choose either to aid the North against the Vale, or the Crownlands against Barclay. The Mander will most likely turn south to face us, In which case they risk your forces striking them in the flank. Alternatively, they could target the Stormlands, and than We'd take them in the flank. The Iron Born have mobility, and can hamper any enemy we need to weaken, likely the Riverlands. Given those set of choices, carefully laid out to them, some of the other lords may choose neutrality. Any lord whose neutral is for us, from a certain point of view."

Briar stared blankly back at Flea. "What do Lord Hightower make of this?"

"I will ask him. Why don't you take the opportunity to write to Lord Dondarrion on the subject as well. We can recommence when we have our answers."

Guard show Briar Caron to Maester Alesander, where he can send a message to Lord Dondarrion, and than to bedchambers where he can rest until an answer comes.

Within a week Briar returned to Hightower's chambers, readying to talk oncemore.
