That's not quite what happen. In fact, I spoke with Smith and he mentioned that Aranya didn't beat or kill Kit necessarily, and neither did she get bumped to legendary swordsmanship. Though he said that it shouldn't matter anyway, because she will likely spend the rest of her days at Duskendale.

The way he spoke about Kit's fate was very vague, but I'm 99.9% sure he decided that Kit left and is in hiding (of some sort). I also assumed by this that he will return to Myr and live out the rest of his days there.
