Mikken soothed the wolfhound, and pulled him aside. "Sorry about that, ser," he said, holding Hawkeye's collar tight. "That's how they are, when their owners fall."

Cedric walked towards the keep, holding Aranya close.

Brandon looked at the body of the late lord Hand as the Far Reach soldiers brought him out, "Good thing that cousin Roland wasn't the Hand," he thought.
Spending some time looking after Darien, though walking amongst the many corpses made him somewhat queasy, he finally finds Darien after retching in an unused room. "Good to see you cousin," Brandon sais smiling slightly

Danwell stood off to one side, wearily leaning against a spear he'd managed to find. His armour was dented, scratched and splashed with the blood of the enemy. He gazed sadly on the body of Lord Irwyn, the holes the quarrels made were all in the back he noted. "Not the way to go" he muttered mournfully. "King's Hand? Just paints a big bloody target on your back if you ask me, and seems someone found it too hard to resist" He spat on the ground and rubbed his face tiredly before heading off to Deep Den to see if he could wash the stink of death from his nostrils

Patrek sat down tiredly on one of the steps in the courtyard, not caring that they were sleek with blood. There was blood on his face in the shape of a shattered tree, but he didn't seem to care about that. He began to clean his axe, before finding a wetstone to sharpen his axe. Who knew when he might have use for it again. He grunted as the answer came to him, it would be too soon... as it always was.

Gawyn stared at one of his broken blades, the top end of which was still buried in some invader's stomach. He had been terrified going into the battle, as scared as he had ever been during his life, but at some point it had all become mechanical. He had never realised how easy it was to kill a fellow human, or how easily he himself could die. He almost had, a few times, if it hadn't been for sheer luck, and his comrades looking out for him. The thought almost made him throw up again. Sighing, he levered himself up from the ground, and slowly began limping towards Deep Den. He would need another blade from the armoury, though the thought of using them again made him sick to the core.

Ser Verden meets up with his fellow Kingsmen, nodding at his commander Danwell, Patrick and Gawyn in turn.
He is beaming from ear to ear.
"Oh to see you all alive and well! Fantastic, simply fantastic. Honestly, I tell you, early on when all that was going on outside," he says, gesturing out to the battlefield, "I've never felt so alive! I was notching and firing arrows like nobody's business. Sent a few of the bastards to whichever heathen hell they believe in too I'd wager. How was it all for you lot?"
He looks around and frowns, "And where's Maxwell?" he adds quickly.

"One battle is much the same as the other," Patrek sais tiredly. "I should have become an archer," he mutters sourly. "I do not know where Maxwell is, he should be around somewhere".

"How was it all for you lot?" He looks around and frowns, "And where's Maxwell?" he adds quickly. Danwell shook his head in tired amusement at Verden's eagerness, which seemed undiminished despite the vast horde of corpses surrounding them. "We survived. That's the important thing, Ser Verden. Anything in addition to that is welcome, but not essential. I'm not sure where Max is. I thought he was with you & the other archers, but when the invaders broke through the Mander lines it all became a bit confused. I'll go look for him" he stretched his back and rubbed his red-rimmed eyes. "If you're feeling so energetic, perhaps you could assist the men on burial detail Ser Verden" he said, pointing at the westermen and servants carrying the bodies to a cart, ready for a mass pyre. "If nothing else, you can see if you can spot those with your arrows in and retrieve them" he continued sourly as he limped off to find Maxwell Hill and the rest of his 'dozen'

I guess you have heard about Lord Irwyn?"

Verden's face fell. All of sudden he looked tired and sick. He nodded his assent at Danwell's order, but then pulled a face behind his back when he turned to go. Deflated, he went to aid in the huge task of burying the dead, hoping that he would not get too caked in filth and gore.

"Brandon... how good to see you." Darien sighed and stood up. "Looks like you got here on time... thank you. I guess you have heard about Lord Irwyn?" "It's not like I single handedly rescued you... although it was a close call," Brandon said lifting his nose up in the air, smiling at the end showing that he meant it as a joke. "Though some of the men I've talked to told me you were near holding of the enemy by yourself!" Brandon sighed "I saw his body being carried out of the castle, odd wounds too since none of the enemy uses crossbows. Well it's for the King and Master of Law to investigate such manners. Not any use getting too much attention to ourselves, especially when Darkheart is still after you".

Darien nodded. "Well, in the end it felt like me and Asha against them all..." He wiped some more sweat from his brow and sighed again. "I just know there is something odd going on... ah, to hell with hit! Once this is over I'll get that bastard Yurie and find some place to spend a few years in peace."

Brandon raised his eyebrows, "Only a few? R'hllor! I would spend a decade at peace".

Darien smiled lightly. "Well, I'm still young enough to see some adventure... Oh, you don't even know!' His smile grew a little then. "Asha is pregnant. I will definately need to take some time out to be a father."
