"Hah, congratulations! Well I doubt you'll have any years of peace then," Brandon chuckled. "How did Aranya take the news? probably picturing her niece or nephew running about with one of her pups".

"Ah, well..." Darien's smile disappeared. "I only found out before the battle. Aranya is... have you not heard?"

Brandon blinked and asked confused, "Heard what?". Then he paled, "Is she....?"

Darien nodded. "She died honorably." Suddenly feeling sick, he wretched on the ground before composing himself. "She has written a will, if you would like to see it."

Brandon's face became grief stricken and he cursed, though that might also have had something to do with the pool of puke he was currently standing in. "At least there is that... honor," Brandon said. 'Honor is not worth a life,' Brandon thought.
"I think I'd like to see the will. How did she die, Darien?"

Darien held his stomach, still feeling slightly sick. "From what I have heard she died freeing Prince Rodrick. I do not know all the details but I believe it was the Viceroy who killed her. The same who was killed by Lord Irwyn."

"I see," Brandon said tiredly, rubbing his face. "Do you plan to march to King's Landing?"

"Ser Cedric is in charge now, so it will be up to him. I'd certainly like to keep fighting those bastards until they leave Westeros. How about you, Brandon?"

"In charge? How so? It's not like he has the biggest army around here... I will probably go with the Mander army towards King's Landing. Well I'd join the Far Reachers if they're going, but they have some issues regarding Irwyn's death I've heard."

"Well, he is the only remaining man who has a decent ability to command in the West. The Crownlands have no one left either..." He scratched his beard for a moment before his eyes lit up. "Alas, perhaps I shall go with you Brandon. It would get me away from the Lord Blackbar and Tarly... seems like they don't hold me in too high regard."

"They were just...," Brandon seemed at lost how to describe it. "I'm sure they were just too stricken with grief. It's not like you have done something to them".

"You are right... I guess they did have a right to be angry. No matter, they will assuredly be able to handle the loss." Scratching his beard again he studied his cousin for a moment. "So, what have you been up to? Last I saw you was in King's Landing."

"Not much to be honest, playing some harp here and there, teaching some language to the Queen and her lady friends. Ended up here because I agreed to go on with Ser Danwell Farring and cousin Patrek to Lannisport, I wouldn't say we were in much trouble but we did get kind of rescued by the Mander and Far Reach army," Brandon said. "Learnt some of that language the foreigners speak too".

Darien listening intently as he played idly with one of his daggers. "The language of the invaders?" He finally said, intrigued. "Does it give any clues to where they actually come from?"

"Well, I was once in Asshai a couple of months, and well this language is somewhat similar to the languages spoken there. So far east of Asshai would be the best guess," Brandon said making a slight frown as if he tried to remember further details.
