Cregan stands quietly not to far from King Gariss. He had agreed to sit in with the meeting with Lord Manderly, and he was glad that he did when he hears the man's explanation.
He raises a eyebrow when Lord Manderly tells that he has left the protection of White Harbor in the hands of a foreigner, but he stands quiet waiting for the King's response.

"You must have heard wrongly, Lord Manderly. I never spoke of yourself marching against me, for I do I think any man of the North would march against me now."
"What you must explain yourself for are your actions alone. You have moved a force I had placed in White Harbor to prevent such atrocities that occured in the Vale," Gariss said, his voice as sharp and cool as ice. "Not only did you abandon your post, and moved a force without my direct command, but you compromise us all, leaving two thousand ill trained men to defend against some potential thousands of trained, deadly mercenaries or soldiers."
"If you wanted to be by me, you had but ask and come with your own guard; but instead you move a full force of four thousand to us, with no explanation, and no warning while leaving a man I do not know, that is not of the North to defend White Harbor."
"Now, explain your reasoning, Lord Manderly."

"My lord, it wasn't a man you don't know, it's my cousin Ser Roose. But with him I left a man that is quite capable of leading battles. If you dislike my presence here, say so and I shall leave immediately."

Cregan couldn't stop himself, as the man didn't give any response to Daario's presence as a commander over a Northern Troop.
"So tell us about this Daario? He does not have a northern name, and I have never heard him mentioned before. So how do you know that he is capable of leading battles? And how do you know that he will not betray you?"

"I dislike the actions you took upon yourself to make without considering the outside factors. I will have you send 3000 of your force brought back to White Harbor, Lord Manderly," he said, his voice calming slightly.
"I would also have you prepare your fleet, and have it ready to sail in all haste. I will overlook this, Lord Jon, something I would not be so lenient with, were it another man."

He does not have a northern name, and I have never heard him mentioned before. So how do you know that he is capable of leading battles? And how do you know that he will not betray you?" "Daario Mataris was a sellsail, owner of five ships. He was quite famous in Myr. When he arrived to White Harbor, and I was the one to call him, I offered him knighthood and my roof and food. He accepted those honors, but do not think me a fool. I would never leave him to lead my forces alone, that much I do not trust him." "I dislike the actions you took upon yourself to make without considering the outside factors. "My king, you said 3000. Should I leave the other 1000 here?" Jon asked

"That is correct, Lord Manderly..." Gariss began, but stopped himself.
"You left a sellsail in charge of White Harbor? One I have never met, whom you offered a knighthood? For what did he deserve an honour of the Seven?"

"Honor, my king? It wasn't honor I gave it to him, it's only what I presented it to be. It was just assuring that he is bond to me by oaths of loyalty. And I repeat, I did not put him in charge, my cousin, who is also my heir until I get a son, is the one in charge."

He was about to say something, but Gariss beated him to it, but there was one fact that had not been adressed, at least in Cregan's mind.
"So how can you ensure that this man will not disclose the defences of White Harbor. People who fight for money is never trustworthy, no matter what loyalty you think they owe you. If you think that by knighting him, he will not betray you because of that oath, then you are a big fool, Lord Manderly"

"You are also a big fool, Lord Cerwyn, to think I left him with no control. Even if he is a coward, that is exactly what will stop him from moving away from me. I told him that painful death awaits him, if he dares do anything against me. And I repeat again, he owns only five ships and my cousin commands the rest. Besides, since I am returning to my city soon, he can't do anything."

"I have told you my regards on sellsails, Lord Manderly, and I'm to assume you remember them. If this man is as loyal to you as he says he is, then his five ships will be of good use to you in the future," Stark said, with an air of finality.

Hearing that Gariss didn't want any more discussion on the matter, he swallowed his words.

Gariss knew the man was unhappy with the turn of events, but they were of his choosing. He would have to swallow the pride.
