Though not physically, the blow struck hard. He crouched next to the bed, each word revibrating through his head, each word tearing out what was left of him. He turned to Umber, and nodded.

After the battle is over, and Cerwyn has spoken to his men, giving them praise in what they had just done, he goes to seek out King Gariss.

As he enters, he gives Gariss a bow.
"King Gariss, the men is resting and training for what is next. What are your plans now?"

Gariss stands as Cerwyn enters, and waits for him to finish before speaking.
"You have proved your worth today, Lord Cerwyn; though you did not have to. I would have you stay to reinforce Moat Cailin. We will speak of details later, though I will need you to stay and hold this post, should we fail in the south and need somewhere to fall back on. I have already seen the importance of a force waiting to support, and I would see that we have it again.
"As for me, I will go south, to rendevouz with your uncle, while leaving a force of roughly four thousand here, and then some here. More men are on their way down now."
Gariss did not want to immediately discuss his unease with Lord Manderly, and the irritation it brought him, though dealing with that would come.

Cregan nodded at the sound reasoning that Gariss had put behind those words.
"I will stay here, and train the men so that they will be prepared if course of events doesn't turn in our favor."
He nodded again.
"Good Good. More men there will make it easier to defend and to build fortifications"
He paused.
"I just ask that you share with me, how you managed to get more men into the castle"

Gariss looked to Big Benn Umber.
"There are secret passages now only known by Benn, myself, and few others. The men who came in with us fell in battle; so I assure you they cannot be used against you. You must have the support of the crannogmen in order to use them properly in any case."
Gariss sighs.
"And now Lord Maderly is being foolish. I raised more men to his army, so that he may better defend White Harbor; but he decides to march his men down here," Gariss frowns.
"What am I to do about stupidity?"

He nodded, understanding his king's reluctancy to tell him about the pathways, but he thought them to important to ignore. "I would be able to protect this place much better if I knew those pathways, but that is your decision to make, King Gariss. If there is something I have learned from my uncle's is that you should have a plan for every turn of event that can happen during a battle, and this is something that can be a blessing or a battle, should anything go bad down in the south."

"I can understand, Cregan," Gariss said. "Though that will have to wait for a later time. I will educate you on some the secrets of Moat Cailin soon. For now, I would ask for your assistance in the matter concerning Lord Manderly. I fear he ignores my wishes, and aims takes matters into his own hands."
Benn grunted as Gariss finished, and they both looked to Cregan.

"What assistance do you require?"
He didn't wish to fight anymore northerners, but if the Lord Manderly was making trouble, and was working against King Gariss, then he had to be dealt with.

"His men will not stand with him, I believe that much. But they have to know.
"It would cause far too much strife to put battle to him, should he continue to disobey me and march toward us. And though his intentions are unclear, I do not trust them. I will meet with him, and I wish for you to be there. That is all."

"Explain yourself."

Jon bowed "What is there to explain, my king? I wanted to help you with Moat Cailin, but my men tell me you were talking about me marching against you. What made you think such a thing? The White Harbor is known for loyalty, not treason. All I want is to be at my king's side, no more than that. If you fear for the future of my city, do not. I left it in good hands, my cousin's and Ser Daario's."
