well you have to PM the Smith about calling up troops. I asked him to call up the ten ships sworn to Faircastle, as well as crews (soldiers and sailors both) for them. I can't call up much more than that though.

Yeah, I sent a PM to him. So, if the Lannisters call up all their men, shouldn't we outnumber their 15,000 force pretty easily?

if we call up even half of our men we will, but then there's the matter of who's leading the armies, where the armies are, where they can fight, supply lines. Lots of logistics

What are the main places we want to defend?
Obviously The Banefort, Casterly Rock, and then Faircastle has to be on there, as it is a outpost against would-be invaders. Where else?

The Crag, Feastfires and Kayce are all castles near the coast, the Crag is most well positioned against the Ironborn, Feastfires and Kayce are south of Fair Isle.

I know splitting our superior numbers into seperate armies may sound dumb, but in this case, if we were to cover ALL of the key points with enough men to repel an assault on the fort/castle, then the only thing the ironborn could do would be to lay siege, which would be useless because we could then bring down our other armies from all directions onto the point being attacked.

Their goal won't be to besiege castles, or capture them. They're going to reave our shores and kill as many smallfolk as they can near the coast. I'd assme they want to harry us enough so that we put our force onto ships to invade their islands so they can use their superior sea-power to scatter our transports before we can even land any soldiers. That's what I would do if I were them anway. If they invade us with an army, they have no chance.

I thought thats what they would do realistically in the book (I know, its weird saying realistically when were talking about a fantasty book), but on this game, how does it hurt us if they burn villages? Does it hurt our troops numbers or morale or something?

They don't have the men or resources to wage a full scale war against the west, if that's what they want then their only hope is for the crown to turn against us as well and call the other realms to battle on the Ironborn side. If that doesn't happen, they can't do anything more serious than reave and kill our smallfolk which doesn't do a thing to us in terms of the RP, but if they do it for mad long without us fighting back, the Smith will probably have the smallfolk of the west get kinda mad at their lords who aren't protecting them.

Oh, okay, I understand now. Can't Maurin issue an order for the coastal cities to hold watches on the waters at all times and small folk flee into the castles and forts when they spy the longships coming ashore? Or something. I don't know why I'm talking, I know nothing about war on here, lol.

That would work against a slow moving invasion fleet, but not so much against reavers. We'd need our own ships patrolling the waters to prevent them
If the smallfolk just tried to flee every time the IB came, they'd return to homes that would be burned and looted, and crops that would be destroyed.

Yeah, you're right... I need a severe overhaul on my war tactics, lol. Do you know if Maurin or anyone has called up the men?

I don't know. The Smith hasn't been online since 2 though, so it might just be unupdated.

I have no idea if Deep Den, the seat of House Lydden, is near the coast or well in-land, lol... that will determine if I need to improve defenses, etc.

I will PM Smith about raising our force. I may not be very active next week, though.
