"Well that was the most excitement I had in awhile." Feld laughed. "When can we break out some ales?"
"I don't think we have ales." Ulfor said quietly.
"And if we did we wouldn't break them out...I know." Feld said with a quick glare to his friend. "Let a man live in his daydreams why don't ya."

Lord Lewys gave the signal and the command was relayed to the front of the column. After a few minutes, the vanguard, which Lewys had placed under the command of his brother, Ser Jon Lydden, began to slowly move south. 5,000 westerland knights heading south, thought Lewys, but to what end? Beyond the Wall isn't exactly the best place to receive news from the south, but nevertheless, rumors of war in the west had been spread and confirmed every time supplies were delivered to Lord Stark's army from the south. Lewys only hoped the fighting wouldn't begin without him.

Roose sat in his tent, a maester wrapping his forearm, which had taken a slight wound during the ambush. Lord Glover read the letter Wat had sent. After he was done Roose spoke. "Lord Glover, take the wildling prisoners back to Fort Whitetree and then send a raven to Deepwood Motte to check out Stoney Shore. Should the smallfolk there be truthful in their intentions and the cause of their small rebellion see that they have the books they request from Winterfell's library. Inform them that their lands will most likely come under your administration or under my direct administration. However, if their intentions were dishonourable, marshal a small army and send me another raven.."
The young lord of Winterfell flexed his forearm. The wound was a not deep and so he fell to the floor of the tent. Up and down he went, his muscles aching as he did a series of pushups. The more you sweat, the less you bleed.

"Show in Swyft." Roose said to the maester.

Ser Davos dismounts and is led into the tent. His eyes take in the surroundings for a moment before he kneels and addresses the young Lord. "Lord Stark, it is a great honor. I take it that your campaign against the wildings is a success thus far?" he inquires courteously.

"The campaign has not yet started. Men marshall at Whitetree. While I continue my search for Benjen Stark." Roose looked up curiously. "I assume you found me by that string of small forts between the search party and Whitetree?"

"My apologies, Lord. I am sure it will be a success whenever you do launch the campaign." He cleared his throat before continuing. "I have been sent on behalf of Lewys Lydden's army marshalling at Deepwood Motte. He has sent this report to you to clarify his purpose and intent," Swyft said as he handed over the report.

Roose turned on his side. Sweat beedin on his forhead. Mist streamed from his mouth in the cold morning. The maester read the letter out. "An invasion of Bear Island?" He said. "Tell me...what has been happening in the south. I'll admit that news has been slow in coming here."

Davos nodded and grew serious. "War has broke out between the West and the ironborn. The riverlands and some of your northmen have taken up our cause, and an army of 10,000 sits at Deepwood Motte as we speak, preparing to attack the island. Even further south, we've got tidings that the men from the far reach have declared against the new regent, Horas Blackwood, and have raised an army at Horn Hill. Civil war seems to be threatening. My lord, Lewys Lydden, wishes to ask you if you have any more ships to spare, in his quest to return Bear Island to its rightful place, to the north. The ships from White Harbor and Deepwood Motte have came, but no others."

"All this for a damn island?" Roose said, as he stood up from his calisthenics. He went to a bowl and splashed some cold water on his face. He reached over and grabed a cloth and whiped the dripping water off. "Bear Island is just a rock...in the ocean...with a few trees...oh, and bears of course..."

Roose slipped on a quilted tunic, and over that boiled leather. After that he pulled on his greaves, all the while he spoke. "And who does Horas fight against? Lord Regent Piers Bettley?"

After hearing the rest of the situation and buckling his bastard sword over his back Roose made for the entrance to the tent while pulling on his furry cloak. At the entrance he turned his head to Swyft. "The North cannot afford two fronts. An island in a frozen sea is not worth the lives of my people."
Outside he turned to Lord Letner Flint. "We near the Frostfangs, set up a camp here. I shall take 20 men into the mountains."
