Upon returning, Marten takes Benedicta aside.
"Lord Piers doesn`t wish for Kinslayers to be new Regents, though he pardoned me and my father for killing Randal. I suggested that you are better suited than Cedric for the Regency, though."- He sighs and looks through the window.
"This damm snow is getting us isolated. Do you have any news on the situation in the Realm? I heard that Andry Baratheon was marching towards King`s Landing."

Benedicta looked to Marten. "Last I heard, Emelia was imprisoned in King's Landing by Andry's forces. Knowing her, she's already made it to Sunspear and gotten things back under control."
She lowered her voice so only Marten could hear. "But then, if kinslayers cannot be regents, then my cause is lost as well."

"Not necessarily, cousin. The issue was that we killed last Regent. Lord Piers may yet surprise us with his move.... though he didn`t imply your chances are high." -Marten scratches his small beard.
"I also mentioned to him that Sara`s and Jeyne`s opinions have to be taken into account. I have spoken with Sara, she is quite reasonable."

Benedicta nodded. "Possibly. Certainly, she cannot love Cedric."

OOC: I apologise for not being around, real life troubles, nay? In any case, I am going to make a strict effort in remaining active and when I can't, I might ask Seth to log on on occasion to 'speak for me'.
Also, since it has been some time since Cedric was asked that question, we can all just assume that he responded with something fantastically uplifting and thematic.

Cedric awaits the return of Piers Bettley and Horas Blackwood.

Marten approaches Cedric.
"It seems that you have huge chance to be the Regent after all." -He whispers to him.

"Is that what my dear sister told you?" Cedric imposes in an unattached way. He glances momentarily at his sister and then back to Marten. "Make your peace, cousin, I do not think I can stomach your dual nature much longer."

"Dual nature? I am just open-minded, and not blinded by hunger for power."- Marten frowns.
"Anyway, I am not going to be the next Regent, neither will my father. And I think you have bigger chance than Benedicta."

"Well, at least Piers didn't give you the Regency, murderer."

Marten turns towards Jonas.
"Says who?"

"Enough," said Benedicta. "This squabbling helps no one." She turned to Cedric.
"Marten and I, during the period of unrest, were allies. We remain so. But that is no reason why he cannot congratulate you on victory if he believes it to be yours."

"You all seem to be forgetting the most principle fact of the West's Regency. I wish to keep us united, despite the petty squabbles. I have preached that from the beginning, and even Marten can attest to that." He shook his head sadly.
"The West needs someone whom they believe they can trust and follow. Benedicta, I love you, you are my sister and I do not wish any ill toward you, but if your motives can seem suspicious to me, your brother, they will seem ten times as nefarious to the rest of the West. You were raised by a woman who most think sleeps with snakes, and the Lords would never raise banners for someone they feel is just a catspaw of another woman."
To Marten, he turned next. "Marten, you are a good-hearted man, and a cousin whom I love dearly, but you must not try to play so many sides. If you were to get this Regency, men would think they had to watch their backs, not exactly something a leader deigns to implicate."
"I am not saying that I am a better candidate than anyone, but I do know that I wish for Lannister, and perhaps more importantly, Western unity. Whomever takes this Regency, that will be what lands the most important effects. The West feels vulnerable right now, and is in need of someone to bring them back from the melancholia and make them feel strong again."

"I agree, cousin, West needs unity and vigour."- Marten nods.
"But heir to the Rock is Jeyne, you should rememeber....."

"Randal thought otherwise. Perhaps we should consider his claims."

Benedicta looked at Cedric calmly. "Strange. The vast majority of the West already -follows- my lead," she commented. "You're the holdout, not me. Perhaps if you'd ever taken stock of the situation, you'd be a better candidate for Regency. As it stands..." She shrugged. "Your stock in the West couldn't be much lower if you were Randal or Michael, though Piers may favor you."
She looked at Jonas calmly. "Not that again. It's been brought up before, with absolutely no evidence, and dragging it up again will just make things messier. No. Jeyne is the heir unless and until proof can be brought. And if the Regent tries to disinherit her for himself, that would be even more contemptible."
