Piers, Horas and Rhodri sit at one table, with three of the white brothers lined behind them. There are six chairs lined in a row facing the Regent and Hand.
Lord Banefort walks forward and takes a seat bowing to his betters.

After Cedric takes his seat, Horas speaks to the room.
"With the death of Lord Randal, a new Lord Regent of the West must be chosen. All of you have been summoned here because you are being considered for the regency. Now," Horas says, steepling his hands on the table before him, "Make your case as to why we should choose you."

Benedicta smiled calmly. "Very well, I'll keep it simple," she said, taking the lead.
"First, I am trained in the arts of rule and statesmanship, and not only that, I was trained by the foremost genius of the age, Emelia of Dorne. I have already put such skills to work preserving stability in the West during the turbulent period, when Cedric and Michael Lannister claimed the Regency without royal sanction, and when Michael sought to win it by force of arms. Had Marten and myself not presented a unified front, our Lord Jonas might not have been so quick to see the necessity to assassinate Michael. As they say, the proof is in the porridge.
"And secondly, I am of the Lannister blood, yet I don't have any direct stake in the marriage of Jeyne Lannister, owing to being rather ineligible to wed her. I can therefore ensure that Jeyne is married to the proper husband, as is her Regent's duty, without any incentive to favor myself in that matter."

Marten speaks after her.
"I am here, but I don`t consider myself worthy to be a Regent. I lack experience in rulership, among other things." -He turns his gaze on Maurin.
"However, my father once been on the side of last true Lord of the West, great Baldwin Lannister, learning from him and others." -He looks at Piers.
"He is a person of experience and skill, mighty warrior who did well ruling his lands for many years. He preferred to stay with his family rather than seek other opportunities, so he is not a man consumed by ambition as many are. I believe that he would lead the West with honour and care until Lady Jeyne is of age, to serve the heritage of great Lord Baldwin."

Horas turns first to Benedicta.
"I have no reason to doubt your abilities, Miss Benedicta, only your loyalties. A Lord Paramount has only two loyalties -- to their people and to the king. As for the one, you were raised far away from the West. And as for the other, you wear your foster mother's colors as often as your own. Why should I believe you will serve in the best interests of the crown and the realm, not Emelia Martell's?"
After her response, Horas looks to Marten and Maurin.
"An interesting word you use to describe your father, Ser Marten. 'Honor'. Perhaps you can explain to me the honor in murdering your sworn Lord, Ser Marten?"

"There is difference between murder and self-defense, Lord Horas. And sworn Lord has duties as well." -Marten looks at Lord Hand intently, than at his father and Piers.

"So it is your claim that Lord Randal attacked you and your father? With a scant few of his own bodyguard inside your father's own castle?"
