"It wasn`t few bodyguards, Lord Hand. He had enough men to threaten us. Which is proven by the fact that after initial fighting castle was taken by his men and everyone present put to the sword."- Marten scowls with the last words.

Benedicta looked at Horas evenly. "A fair question and I will answer it fairly. I will admit that I do owe her every bit of respect and consideration a daughter might owe a mother." She turned to Rhodri Arryn.
"I owe her almost exactly the same respect, come to think of it, as Ser Edrick Dondarrion owes you, Lord Arryn, and for the same reason. She is the one who taught me and made me what I am, as surely as if she had given me the accolade. But like Ser Edrick, that does not mean I owe her fealty." She then turned to Horas and Piers.
"Besides. I am no one's puppet. I will make my own decisions based on the needs of the Realm and the West, and not those of the Princess of Dorne."

Horas considers Benedicta's words, then nods. "Thank you Miss Lannister. That will suffice for now."
---------------------
"I see," Horas says to Marten, "So why did the Lord Randal try to kill you? I am most curious."

"Because he saw that we we will not support him in his schemes against other members of our House and the rightful heir to the West. And he didn`t want us to investigate his role in the death of my wife."- Marten responds.

Piers chuckles to himself, and catches Benedicta's eye and gives her a sly wink.

Benedicta returned Piers' gaze, but only smiled slightly.

Jonas does not appear happy by what Marten is saying about Randal.
"How dare you, how dare you. You are the one who killed him, you are the one who brought about her death. And then you blame Randal. No, this man, or his father, neither of them are fit Regents. Lady Bendicta is of questionalbe values. And while I myself am probably the least fit of the canidates, I was in the confidence of Randal, and I know both his stratagies and his way with the bannermen. I could well take over in his footsteps without missing a beat."

Horas turns towards the latest candidate to speak.
"No doubt you could, Lord Jonas. And yet we cannot call you blameless either. Slaying your lord's son is a poor way to repay his long years of patronage towards you."

"Indeed it is not, and for that I am truly sorry. But I did what I did for the good of the West, much as Randal did before me. " He turns to Marten, "Unlike what he did."

Benedicta smiled at Jonas Westerling. "I don't claim to be of stainless integrity by a long shot," she responded, "but then, neither can you, Lord Westerling. Your hypocrisy aside, while your armies stand sworn to Marten and myself, it is rather in poor taste to be throwing mud at us. Meanwhile, simply insulting my "questionable values" in the least specific way you can find..." She shook her head.
"Have a care, Lord Jonas, that you not be seen seeking to smear a Lady's honor. Duels of honor have been fought for less, and the greatest knights in Westeros will line up to defend mine." Or should I say, the greatest knight...

Jonas responds quickly and coldly, "And where would these knights come from? Dare I guess, from your foster mother. Another sign that she is more loyal to Dorne than the West." He sighs, "I swore to you until the time came in which the Hand and Regent chose another, and then I shall follow him, or her."
He turns to Horas, "I will serve the next Regent, just as I served Lord Randal and Lady Jeyne. Perhaps I am truly the worst of the canidates, not being of Lannister blood, but what does that matter. One of them pushed his own lord out of a castle and the other has spent more of her life in Sunspear that at the Rock."

Benedicta smiled coldly. "No, I would -not- ask my foster mother for aid," she responded coolly. "I would merely ask a friend of my father's to champion me. So cease your prattle, unless you either wish to back up your words...or to further prove yourself a coward."

"Enough," Horas says, "You will not insult the hospitality of the Lord Arryn by drawing swords here. If you have a grievance, settle it at another time and place."
Only Cedric Lannister and Hugo Banefort have yet to speak. Horas turns towards the latter.
"You have remained silent, Lord Banefort. Tell us why you are the best suited for the regency."

Cedric had remained quiet throughout the proceedings. His eyes flickered from one host to another, hard and judging, though his mouth was pulled into a tight smile, his perfect teeth peeking out from behind it. He stroked his trimmed, reddish beard thoughtfully.

"I would not think to touch my sword, m'lord. At least not here, and not against my possible new Regent."
