Clayton enters the solar of Lord Robert Hightower, the short note in hand. "You called for me, Lord Hightower?" Clayton said, looking around the solar.

"Yes I have heard from a trusted adviser that you cheated him he would not tell me what you cheated him about so I called you in to find out." Robert is sitting reading a book about sailing.

"Cheated, m'Lord? I have cheated no one, only haggled. I merely haggled the price low, and he got angry because he finally settled and wouldn't make me pay more for it. It is not my fault I am so good in mercantile, my Lord Hightower." Clayton said, taken aback that someone would say he cheated. "I have never cheated in my life. It is not my fault he didn't haggle longer than he did." Clayton swallowed, and continued. "I am starting up an industry for my lord, Lord Seth Falgrave. I haggled, apparently with one of your advisors, for a ship full of cucumbers, crawdads, wine, and ale. I was merely haggling to buy it at a cheap price."

"All economic benefits that will support another Lord must be cleared by me, Ser Braska. Do you understand I am the Lord in Oldtown my voice is finally while you are here or you will be doing anything in this town." Robert has put down the book and stares at the older man before him.
"One more thing I do not care about your reputation I care for my city."

"First off, I am no Ser an empty title like that holds no whims for me. Secondly, I do not want a boy talking to me about his city! I haggled with a damn MERCHANT SO YOU KEEP TABS ON ME?! One merchant losing out on a hundred dragons wont ruin your cities economy!" Clayton hollers with a cherry red face.

"I do not care about that merchant he told me what happened so I called you in but now this has turned into a bigger matter. All you must do is when you are doing a shipment for a Lord simply tell me or one of my representative what is happening and they well OK it. In my 4 years of Lordship I have never said no it is an ancient Tradition that must be carried on thats all." Robert ignores this mans anger.

Clayton looks at Robert and says, "Fine." Clayton does a complete turn and walks out of the room red faced.

Clayton stops at hearing this. He stands there for a second, weighing his options. Slowly he turns around, and walks back to Lord Hightower. "Yes, m'lord?"

"When you leave with your approved goods you will be taking 100 bottles of the Reach's finest for you and your friends to share." Robert smiles at the man.

"Thank you, Lord." Clayton's face starts turning back from red, and actually shows a hint of a smile. "If I may take your leave now, Lord Hightower." Clayton leaves the room, grinning. Lord Hightower had fallen into the same trap as the merchant had. Clayton had gained much for very little, mercantile skill was paying off.

"And who would you be that the new Regent Francis Varner orders to come to Oldtown. Doesn't he know that it's already hard enough to run this god forsaken town. I think that is the curse of the Hightower's I have lived through 3 you know."
