Elane goes to the garden.
OOC: Blandest post ever.

Brandon looks pleased.
OOC: I can outdo you.

On hearing that an ironborn representative was in town, Elane invited Erik Pyke to have lunch with her and her husband, Ser Brandon.

Erik arrives at Elane's residence with a pair of guards and a maester in tow. They knock on the door and wait to be received.
OOC: Also pretty damn bland.

They are greeted by Ser Brandon Buckler, a Stormland knight of high repute. "Greetings, Ironborn, and welcome to Pentos."
Buckler and the steward lead them in. They can see a number of guards and servants.

OOC: Heh, you're in good company then. Bravos and shadowcats guard the house, but the dining room is relatively free of them. Elane rises and greets Erik Pyke warmly. "Welcome, my good man. It is always a pleasure to see someone from home. I am Elane Buckler."

"What brings you so far from home?" the knight asks.

"A pleasure indeed, Lady Elane, Ser Brandon," Erik says, giving a short bow to each in turn, "Duty brings me this far from home. Lord Harlaw has decided that we Ironmen have been isolated too long, and has me traveling the Free Cities, shaking hands and making friends. And, of course, in Braavos I heard tales of the beautiful Lady Elane, defender of the Andals."

"Lord Harlaw...he would be Lord Balor's good-father, wouldn't he? I corresponded with Lord Balor in the past, a very nice man. I was sorry to hear of his death."

Erik nods sadly at the mention of Balor. "Yes, it was a terrible shame. I was present when it happened. Only a few of us managed to escape the hall before it burned. And you're correct about Harlaw. He sits on the Seastone Chair for now, but I think he's grooming Balor's son, Urri, to rule. Harlaw seems a good lord. No Balor, certainly, but he rules well."

They sat down to eat. The table was large, but it was only set for four. Erik's maester dined with them, and the bravos politely escorted Erik's guards away. Soon only the Bucklers, Erik and the maester were in the dining room, with servers carving the meat and serving. Erik could tell that Elane - for whom security and comfort were a high priority - did not want bodyguards and bravos at her table.
"I had invited Lord Balor to visit me in Braavos, and he promised he would. It was a pity I did not get a chance to meet him. Still, this Lord Harlaw seems a good man. And he seems to have sent a good man." She smiled. "How long have you been across the narrow sea?"

Upon being served, Erik does his best to not eat like an Ironman, responding in between bites, "Ah, let me see. We left Oldtown perhaps...four months ago. About a month in Braavos, long enough for most of the crew to run through their money. And of course, it was just a short trip up here to Pentos. It really is like a different world across this sea. I had visited the Free Cities as a child, on my father's ship, but my memories did not do them justice. But what about you? How long has it been since you saw Westeros?"

"Four years," Elane said. "I cannot believe it has been that long. I have had so much work here that time seems to have vanished. I don't even feel that connected to my old world, now that I think on it. I was familiar with this culture long before I came here, and now that I am here, it suits me very well."

Erik smiles. "I can see how it would suit some. It certainly is something, this land, but I don't think it could ever really suit me. Too...civilized. My home is aboard a ship."
