Just wondering, because the example for the character creation is Ned Stark, although it's 2 centuries later, is it still canon characters from the books just set in a different era or completely made up descendents?

That's just an example people will be familiar with. The descendants will be all completely made up :-P

OK, as far as genealogy is concerned, I'm sort of running into some problems. In short, I'm trying to develop some backstory to my character but to do that I need to know a little bit about who's ruling the major houses, their sons, etc. I only ask because I'm not sure how comfortable you are about me just making up names for rulers and lordlings and such. Oh, and if it helps, I'm planning on creating a Lannister and the least I really need to know is who the current lords of Casterly Rock and Lannisport are. I can wing it from there . Thanks.

Well that is convenient, as the other player signed up (he will be posting shortly) is going to be the Lord Lannister. As far as names of other Lords, just run them by me. It will mainly be the players who create House Genealogies.

Ok, that's great. I may not be able to post for a while (I'm still kind of working on my character, amongst other things) but once I have him ready do you just want me to send you an email so you can look it over, or should I just post the whole thing in the Character Creation thread as soon as I'm done? Not sure if you want to look over things first or what. Thanks.

You can post it when you're done and if there's anything wrong with it I'll message you privately :-P.

As a further note, you should apply for your character in the character creation thread. Then I will approve the character or tell you what needs work.

Comment not question really, I will probably join this, but I think I'll see exactly what it is for sure before I decide. (As in seeing the setup and how it's all going to work when the players begin)

Well, if this changes your decision I can briefly summarize how it works, having done games like this for a long time: Characters roleplay together in the King's Landing board or together as a family in their own board (as their second and regular character respectively, at least regularly). Roleplaying posts that involve skill (realism) checks will be sent to me and posted (or not posted). This will be things such as battles, weddings, assassinations, tourneys, etc.
I believe that was a pretty good summary for just a paragraph. Personally, I'm very excited to see this game begin, I played a game very similar to this for over four years and watched my characters age, have children, and then played as their children. The family system worked very well and will hopefully be tons of fun here as well (creating rivalry and intrigue).

Well I'll certainly consider joining now, I guess it's just a matter of if I want to be in any of the current families or not.
I know you're probably wanting to get as many involved in the beginning as you can so things run smoother.

House Royce could use some numbers! I don't know, you're the Redspear and I'd be the Breakspear, is that too many spear bynames for one family?
