Vance smiles. "Humiliating him in front of all King's Landing, losing to a known fool like myself. And since I know you'll never kiss the man who defeated him in the melee, you have only me to credit."

Aranya chuckled. "I will never kiss Jon, no. So I suppose that leaves you." She pulled him to her and kissed him lightly.

She kisses him more firmly than she expected. That may have been his influence on the matter.

Aranya pulled away, laughing. "There's your reward, brave ser."

Vance smiles charmingly. "You taste even better than I expected, like burnt boar meat and dogspit. I might have to give you a diamond for that kiss alone, the best taste I've had in years."
Rhodri is looking on from across the hall somewhat bemused, maybe mildly concerned.

OOC: I thought everyone was outdoors, not in a hall?
Aranya kicked him, grinning. "Asshole. You'll never get another kiss again, champion or no."
She caught Rhodri staring and winked.

OOC: Hunting lodge. I'm sure there are outdoor firepits as well, if you'd rather be outside.
IC: "There are better things to do than kiss, mi'lady. You know where to find me if you change your mind." Vance makes a florid bow, and rubs his shin.

Aranya laughed and shook her head. "Ever the optimist. The women of Duskendale don't know what they're in for."

Vance winks and blows her a kiss. He steps over to cut himself a piece of the burnt boarmeat, saying "This tastes delicious."

The dog looks at him dubiously.

Aranya caught Rhodri's eye and walked over to sit with him. "How are you enjoying the hunt?" Her tone was light and playful, but her eyes seemed to see something in him.

"I am well, but it was a long day, chasing after Yohn..." he says.

"He's wild," Aranya said, almost approvingly. "I can imagine what a fine chase he led you on. Your grey destrier might be swift, but he would have given his mount...Anyway, I did some chasing myself a little earlier. I had to pounce on him to keep him still."

"He is a difficult child. I often wonder if I hadn't been gone so much, if I hadn't missed so much of his childhood, if he would be so disturbed. I feel I have let him down as a father," Rhodri says.

Aranya was silent for a moment. "Rhodri...one of the things I resent the most about my father is that he was never there for me. Then he wasn't there for anyone else either, but it still rankled for most of my life. Until I married Selwyn, I always felt distrustful of men - it may have been one reason why I never stayed with one. That, and I seem to have inherited my father's wildness.
"You're a much better man than Edwyn was, the gods know. You haven't left your family to go gallivanting with a hundred mistresses. You might not have been around for Yohn, but it's through no fault of yours. He more disturbed than I was at that age, but that's because of who he is, not because of you. However...now he needs a father figure, I think."
