The King's own hunting lodge in the Kingswood, Stagsrest was first built by the first King Edric as an escape from King's Landing. While comfortably appointed with roaring hearths, heavy tapestries and plenty of sleeping chambers, it is fortified as well to keep the king safe, and guarded all days of the year.
It has kennels, falconrooms and a rookery, plus a butcher's building where the fresh boar can be made into flavorful sausage with the local grown Stormland apples. In addition to its duties as a hunting lodge, much of a King's business is done here, away from the prying eyes of the city.

The King was kind enough to lend Stagsrest to Rhodri Arryn -- a known lover of the hunt -- for the day and it now hosted a party for the Valemen. They had spend the day hunting and gathered vast amounts of fresh game, now roasting away, while Ser Felwick Gower had supplied plenty of strong cider.
The King's ale and wine larder were only mildly pillaged as a result.

OOC: Edited after I saw what Rhodri posted.
Aranya thought on her last visit here. It had been when she had rekindled her romance with Selwyn.
She roasted the meat quietly, smiling.

Yohn sees Aranya calmly smiling and sits by her and stares into the fire. "Hello mother."

Roland was in the butcher's area working with the butcher and his squire Robert Pyle. "It's a hell of a fucking deer, Ser Roland, if'n I've ever seen one." Pyle drank deeply of his cider.
Roland himself hadn't yet taken to the drink. "Aye, it is. He was a good old fellow," Roland said as he ran his knife up the center of the deer, parting it's flesh and exposing the innards.
"Why don't's you have the butcher do that, Ser?" Pyle asked.
"My father taught me to that a man must always clean his own take from the hunt." Roland worked into the guts of the stag, careful not to unleash any of the stomach fluids as he tenderly cut around the tissue. As he removed the organs he put those that could not be eaten into a tub the butcher had near the table. Those that were good for eating, Roland bid the butcher to have taken to be put in a stew. "Sorry, old fella," Roland said as he detached the deer's penis and testicles.
Pyle grimaced, "Ach!"
After a time the cleaning was finished, and Roland cut himself a choice steak and one also for Robert. He told the butcher to quarter the rest and provide to the kitches for whatever purpose best fitting. "Come, Robert, let us join the feast."

Aranya grinned at her nephew. "How was the hunt, my little falcon?"

"Today I was a goshawk. But I prefer the falcon, a peregrine is faster."

"I've never slipped skins with any bird but a hawk, and that was a long time ago," Aranya said, offering Yohn a thick cut of hot spiced boarmeat on a skewer. "It is amazing to be with one, but I've never felt the emotional connection that I feel with Snow. Have you chosen one as a companion?"

"I like to shift and change. I think it is better that way. I tried a kitten once, that was strange."

Roland got out to the feast and began his foray into cider-drinking.

"Roland, my little huntsman!" Aranya said. "Bring me some of that butter. I have a mind to dribble it on the boarmeat."
"You tried a kitten?" Aranya raised an eyebrow, and seemed to see something. "Petra's kitten? Or Rhae's? I bought one for each of them."

Rhodri complimented Ser Roland on the magnificent stag. "I suppose there is good hunting around Tedmyn's Down, there must be. The high mountain valleys are filled with boar and stag."

"It isn't necessarily better. The bond you can develop with a true companion is formidable and a sweet gift."

"Like you would a husband? I don't want a wife, be it woman or creature," Yohn says, with the certainty of a child.

Roland smiled proudly as he brough Aranya the butter, "Yes, a lot of opportunity to hunt, but I have to say, this stag is very large and old. I think in the mountains they aren't as able to find food. It was almost a shame to bring him down. I suspect he had been the master of his domain for some time. There is nothing like the hunt, except maybe combat, I suppose."
