"I am just expressing the wishes of the Reach. I don't find it terribly upsetting, I just want to express that I would prefer my good-brother consult me -before- he does this sort of thing."

OOC: I just wanted to make it clear that Ser Anslem took it upon himself to arrest Lord Varner. Callen is still kickin around the North.

OOC: The King is at Castle Black. There is no way the King even knows this event happened. Information does not pass quickly in Westeros, across a distance as long as South America.

OOC: This kind of turf war happened all the time in the Middle Ages. The nobles and the king often clashed over who was going to judge a particular case.
Also, is Varner going to go bankrupt from paying out 3200 drakes? ^_^

OOC: All of this talk of money is approximate, since we don't know how much money each bannerhouse has.

ooc: Well if we're still going by kingdoms having x thousands of income per year then yes, I wouldn imagine Lord Varner would have trouble raising that much without severely bankrupting himself

OOC: I think it's reasonable to assume that a minor House would earn around 20,000 a year. I mean, the Melee in AGOT got somewhere between 20,000 and 40,000 as a prize (Im not sure on the exact number), but while 3200 might set him back a tad, I doubt it would do long lasting damage. This is one reason I think we need to figure out some sort of capita and economy. It would be much more realistic if a situation like this COULD brankrupt a House, otherwise, what's to stop a House from being corrupt and killing innocents if they only have to pay restitutions from their unlimited bank account?

OOC: when i proposed 25, I had meant it to be taken as a small amount. When Barret selected 50, i presume he meant it to be taken as a significant, but not impossible amount. It would be nice to have a settled economy, but in this case, as long as Barret and I understand the intent, I think we're okay for roleplaying purposes.

OOC: Considering that in ASOIAF, people usually tipped the common folk with coppers, dragons are going to make them crazy.

OOC: Perhaps Varner will edit his post to make it 5 dragons per victim, and I will raise it to 10 dragons per victim.

OOC: Now that the smith has referenced the merchants selling food, we could have these particular, now very rich, peasants buy up that food and lord it over the other refugees. Hehe.

ooc: We did decide to test out an economy system, but the man you volunteered to create it has moved on it seems. If there is anyone else who wants to take a stab go ahead. I will try and work one up with the other, but I will admit I have trouble setting values of things in my head.
