The silent sisters, escorted by ten knights in Baratheon colours led the wagon bearing Garret Redfort's body into the castle. Due to the cold, and the silent sisters' expertise the body had been mostly preserved. Garret's hands clasped a spear gifted to the Redforts by Callen. The shaft was smooth, black dragon bone, crafted from the bones of Garret's foe. The tip was of Valyrian Steel, the bolt invented by Maester Reed had been retooled to fit the spear. It had been named Alerion's foe.

Lord Redfort, his brother Ser Androw, and his sister Lady Elara received the corpse of Ser Garrett tearfully, but with gratitude. Ser Androw admired Aelerion's Foe, which was long and flawless, black dragonbone gleaming alongside the dark, smoky Valyrian steel.
"It's a beautiful gift, and one our House shall bear proudly," Lord Redfort said, with heavy sadness. "Come. Let us bury my son."
"Thank you," meek Lady Elara murmured to the silent sisters.
"Give our heartfelt thanks to the King," Lord Redfort said. "When our family rebelled against Lord Breyn Royce to support Rodrick Baratheon, our three sons were sent as hostages to Runestone. We have always been and still are King Callen's staunchest supporters, and I am proud of my son Garrett's deeds."

Enraged by the attack on Gulltown, Lord Redfort summoned wondered what to do, but Lord Tommen had already made a decision. Tommen armed himself with Aelerion's Foe and rallied the remaining soldiers of Gull Tower and Redfort. Although the large part of their forces had been with Grafton these past months, the remaining troops were assembled.
Tommen Redfort was saddened and shocked, but grimly ready for battle. All that remained was for his liege to call his banners. Tommen knew he would. And Tommen had always been a better spearman than a sword, in any case.

Lord Tommen rode hard for Gulltown to take Lady Elane's swan ship to Storm's End.

Aranya and Selwyn rode into Redfort Castle, which was near the southern Mountains of the Moon. Lord Tommen greeted them and promised to give them as many men as they needed if they were skirmishing with the clans. Elane's mother, Lady Elara, sniffed at Aranya and refused to dine with them.

Aranya changed her bandages and fell asleep beside Selwyn. She had a dream, the vision tinged with green. There were five men: one made of Fire, one of Water, one of Wind, one of Earth, and one of Darkness. Standing across from them were only five people; A Three-eyed Mother, a Smiling Child, A man of music, A blue-painted Crow, a Steel-Clad Father.
Then she saw a large scale, using a mountain peak to be its fulcrum. The first five were placed in the scale and it weighed heavily, but as the second five were placed into the other side the scale balanced. Then one more man was added and immediately the scale tipped and the First five men were launched into a valley. The valley burned.
Aranya woke up with a start. "Shamans," she hissed into her pillow. "And the warlock."

Lady Elara came into the room the next day. "I thought you should know," she told Aranya coldly. Lady Elara was very cold, for a mouse. "We received a copy of a letter sent to King's Landing. Your sister Elane was a victim of attempted murder in Braavos. The Sealord wrote to King's Landing about it." She tossed the letter at Aranya.
"How? By whom?" Aranya asked in horror. When Lady Elara shrugged, Aranya glared and remembered why she had disliked Elane's mother all her life. When Aranya started yelling at her, however, Lady Elara stiffened. "She was ready to have me killed once," she said. "You and she are both as bad your father." And Lady Elara left the room.

"Who would want to kill Elane? She enjoys a little intrigue perhaps, but she's not a danger to anyone," Selwyn wonders aloud.

Aranya snorted. "She's a bloody healer who prays all the time. She makes bandages for the Sealord. The man who did this will die. I will see to it." She fumed and stared in the distance.
"I've had a dream, Selwyn. There were five men: one made of Fire, one of Water, one of Wind, one of Earth, and one of Darkness. Standing across from them were only five people; A Three-eyed Mother, a Smiling Child, A man of music, A blue-painted Crow, a Steel-Clad Father.

"I know who the crow is. And he's coming. I have to meet him."

"And you are the Three-eyed Mother, and Rhodri my brother is the Steel-Clad Father."

"I thought so." Aranya looked delighted. "How did you guess?"
"Horas Blackwood is the blue-painted crow. I know that he's coming here - how else would I have this dream? But Rhodri is in King's Landing, and as for the child and the musician...well, it's not our nephew Yohn. I've only seen him smile once."
"The other Five, the men of elements...I fear they are the shamans. And the sixth man is the warlock. Perhaps." She lapsed into a brooding silence.

"Mayhaps it is Yohn because a smile from him seems to be a portent more so than any other child. And does Rhodri need to come to the Vale to affect this prophecy? I wonder. The musician I do not know."

"Maybe you're right," Aranya grinned at the thought of Yohn smiling. "Those little wooden muscles are so stiff - though the thought of a weirwood smiling is alarming."
"The way I see it, Selwyn, these shamans, or warlocks, can only be defeated by us, in the mountains, whoever we five are. But there was a sixth man who tipped the scales. He will side with the shamans. We have to find him and kill him before that happens." Aranya looked determined. "But the first step is meeting Horas. Will you come with me?"

"Of course," Selwyn says, fiercely, protectively. "I will always be by your side..." he says, reaching out and touching her face, tracing his finger along where her third eye should be.

Aranya smiled and kissed his hand. "And I will always be by yours. But Brynden..." she looked at the boy sleeping in his cradle. "Well, I hate to leave him here, but Elara, for all her mousiness and distaste of bastards, seems to like him. We certainly can't take him with us. But I hate not being with him."
