The Mountains of the Moon form the western border of the Vale, and have long been considered some of the greatest and most beautiful peaks in the realm. They are populated by wildling tribes, and, more recently, stations of the Vale Watch.

OOC: This is all a conspiracy theory so Callen doesn't have a Tyrell queen isn't it.

OOC: No, it seriously isn't. There's nothing going on against the Tyrells.

A bright young maester of the Citadel and a septon of the Starry Sept, both from Oldtown, take one of the more public passes through the mountains. A Vale Watch station spies them and sends escorts. "The Baratheon queen died in these mountains recently," a watchman told the Oldtowners, who quailed. "But don't fear - while we're here with you, you'll be fine. Where are you headed?"
"The Eyrie," the young septon said nervously.
The news of Lord Arryn had recently been proclaimed in the Vale, so the watchman was interested. "The Eyrie! You're lucky. You'll be on top of the world in that white castle, working for the Warden of the East!"

A messenger comes to say that Lord Arryn will bereturning to the Vale with three or four months. The Watch stations are kept alert to control wildlings, and the Lord Commander, whose keep is in the mountains, orders that he be told when the Arryn party is in sight of the largest pass through the Mountains of the Moon.

Aranya and Selwyn ride through the misty mountains at the head of five hundred horse, their stallions' breath steaming in the cold air. A little way ahead is the Bloody Gate.
"Ahh, my old home," Aranya says with a wry smile. Then she winces. She has been in pain today. She grits her teeth, and as they near the castle, the gates open and the castellan of the Bloody Gate ride out with his men to welcome then.
Aranya is sweating. As another spasm of agony shoots through her, she cries out and kicks, at which her black courser rears in fury and dashes into the front courtyard of the Bloody Gate, where it rears and whinnies shrilly. Aranya slides off, but the master-at-arms catches her.
