Sara looked up at the maester and nodded slightly. "It is... likely. But you must tell noone at all. Please. If only to save Jeyne herself, you can not tell anyone."

When she whispered to him the name of the father, the maester's eyes widened. "Him?" he whispered. "Very well, my lady. The secret will be safe with me, and go with me to the grave."

A raven arrives in the maester's tower of Runestone. Maester Cerwyn reads it.
Cousin,
It has come to the King's knowledge that you escaped Casterly Rock with yours and Allard's daughter, Jeyne Lannister. You are commanded to come to King's Landing at once with the child. I hope your journey is safe and comfortable.
Lady Elane
The maester went apprehensively to Lady Sara's room, where she was sitting with her aunt Lady Martina. "Lady Sara, you and your daughter are summoned to King's Landing. You must prepare to leave at once."

"Of course, I will leave now. Was there any mention as to why we must go?"

"No, but I suspect the King means to use Jeyne Lannister against Lord Allard. Jeyne is Lord Allard's only lawful heir. Lady Elane kept the letter very, very brief, no doubt for security's sake. I have sent word to Lord Tommen Redfort of Gull Tower to ride at once with eighty knights, most of them from Redfort Castle. He will be here by nightfall, and he will escort you to King's Landing."

Lord Tommen Redfort rode up to Runestone that night, but he had only ten knights with him - fine swords, but a small number. Maester Cerwyn and Lady Martina looked on in dismay.
"We can travel quickly by ship from Gulltown," Lord Tommen said. He had aged somehow, grown colder and sterner since his brother's death. "Are Lady Sara and the child ready? The Acorn awaits us at port."

Sara walks up, cradling baby Jeyne in her arms. "We're ready to leave as soon as you wish, m'lord." Turning back to the maester and her aunt she thanks them for their hospitality.

"Go safely, little one," Lady Martina kissed Jeyne good-bye and patted Sara.
Lord Tommen glanced at the babe, fast asleep. It was late at night, but there was moonlight. "A pretty child," he said softly. "Let's go, my lady." They had brought a litter for the Sara and the baby, which was carried by six men. Then Lord Tommen and his knights mounted up, and they rode for Gulltown.

A man arrives at Runestone, clad in a surcoat with the device of an owl stitched into it. Ten other men accompany him. "I come on the business of the King," the man says, brandishing a scroll with the king's seal. "Who is in charge here?"

"I am," Lady Martina said. "What is it?"

The knight nods and says a brief "M'lady", then hands the scroll to Lady Martina. It is an edict signed and sealed by King Callen, commanding any who read it to aid its bearer in whatever way they can.
"I am here to take Maerys' triplets to King's Landing. I understand you still hold them here at Runestone?" The knight says.

Lady Martina read the letter, then looked up.
"The three boys? Yes, we have them." Lady Martina summoned Maester Cerwyn and Ser Gerold, the master-at-arms, who brought the boys flushed and sweating from the training yard. "Wash up," Lady Martina ordered them. "Ser Gerold, see that their ponies are ready and their things are packed." She had the king's knights served refreshments while they waited, and soon enough Maerys' sons came down, garbed in plain but well cut clothing, holding their wooden practice swords.
"Where are we going?" one of them asked Lady Martina.
"With the knights," she said curtly. Ser Gerold held their ponies as they mounted, and then the boys rode over to the waiting knights.

"Good," the knight in the owl surcoat says, "We ride first to Gulltown, where we take a ship to King's Landing for speed."
The knights mount and form up around the three boys. "Your assistance has been noted," their leader says, "Seven bless you 'til the end of your days."
With that, the party of knights ride off, taking Maerys' silver-haired sons with them.

Lady Martina was terrified when she received word of the mad attack. What could this mean? Lord Stark, the honorable Master of Laws, brother of the Queen? She shivered, and wondered if the Master of Laws had begun a feud with Rhodri, the Hand. She did not understand politics, but she knew war when she saw it.
Swallowing her terror, she sent ravens to her son Jon and to Rhodri at Storm's End.
Lord Wyndham, meanwhile, began rallying the Vale army.

Scouts were dispatched from Runestone to determine the fate of Gulltown, and whether any of the raiders remained.
