Garrett knelt before Addam Tyrell's corpse, shrouded in black with roses of a dozen different colors tossed over it. "I'm sorry," he said quietly, his eyes burning with tears.
Knights, lords and ladies were all around them. Some were at Spicer's coffin, many more at Addam's. Tommen had gone to look for Ser Donal, who was apparently missing and full of grief.
Garrett felt numb with guilt and misery.

Ser Brandon Buckler, normally a rakish man with an easy smile, walks into the sept with a somber look. He approaches Ser Garrett. "You will grieve a long time, I am sure. But remember this: we are men of swords and spears, you, and I, and Addam. This is the risk we take in life, and Addam took his risk knowingly. You are not at fault."

Donal walked into the chamber slowly, stopping at the entrance. He placed his hand on the lintel, sagging slightly against it for a moment, before hesitantly walking towards the raised dias containing the bodies of Ser Spicer & Addam Tyrell. His eyes were red raw from tears and had a haunted look. He had no recollection of last night, bar wandering the gardens of Casterly Rock. He had not returned to his room and was still sitting in the rose garden when Ser Eddard had found him this morning. There seemed a coldness about him which stopped many nobles from approaching him. As he neared the dias, the nobles around Addam's corpse dispersed. It was not hard to tell which corpse was Addam's, Donal noted sadly, he had not yet grown into the strong man Donal knew he would have become and the difference in size was noticeable. He lifted the shroud gently and looked at the bruised and bloodied face of his dead son. He gently brushed some of the hair out of Addam's eyes and touched his cheek tenderly. It was cold, so very cold. Overcome with grief, he covered his face with his hands and sank to his knees slowly, sobbing.

Garrett nodded to Ser Brandon and went to Donal, ashen faced. In a hoarse voice, he told Ser Donal all. 'I'm sorry', he finished.

Donal 's hands bunch into fists and begin to shake as he looks stony-faced at Garrett Redfort. He rises to his feet, eyes burning. "It is easier to become a knight than to become a man, ser" he says hoarsely "You would do well to remember that your actions have consequences and that combat is not a game for children!" He points at the prone form of Addam Tyrell "My son will never become a man and you and all your friends 'playing' at war and filling his head with foolishness have his blood on your hands!" Donal clenches his jaw and turns abruptly, bending down to gently cradle the body of his son in his arms, and leaves the chamber.

Garrett moved to follow after Ser Donal, but his brothers and two other knights held him back.
"Let him be, Garrett," Tommen said. "He should be alone with Addam now."
Garrett set his jaw firmly. "There is only one way I can make amends." Striding after Ser Donal's retreating figure, he called out to the tall knight.

Kneeling before Ser Donal, Garrett said, "I am sworn to Lord Rhodri Royce, but I owe you a debt that can never be fully repaid. Ask anything of me, short of harming my lord, and it is yours, ser. Now and forever, I am your man. I will take my own life, if you wish it. I swear it by my sword, and by the old gods and the new."
Tommen stood at a distance, looking uncomfortable. He hoped he would not be asked to make a similar vow.

Horas Blackwood pays his respect to each of the dead, then respectfully retreats to a corner. He did not know Addam Tyrell or Syward Spicer well, and nothing he said could ease the grief-filled hearts of their friends and family.
Other lords and knights from the riverlands attend as well, giving whatever small words of condolence they can to the mourners.

Donal's mouth curled in distaste and anger "More death will not restore my son to life, though I am sorely tempted to take you up on your offer, ser." Donal glowered at the Redfort boy, scarely older than his Addam. "However, for the love my son bore you I ask only that, as penance, you serve me for a year and a day. I will not ask you to betray any confidence with Lord Royce nor your family, or to take up arms against them, as unlikely as that is. I ask this only to show you that which I would have shown mine own son and teach you as I would have taught him. In time, I may even learn to forgive you for your part in this tragedy, though that moment is not today." Donal lifted Garret back to his feet "I leave soon for Oldtown, to bury my son in the good earth beside my dear, sweet wife. I ask you to put your affairs in order and be ready to depart on the morn." At that, Donal left for his quarters, carrying Addam in his arms.

Lord Rindwynd walks over to Garrett Redfort "You have done good with your offer of service to Donal, there should be sorrow at the Death but do not hold yourself with guilt it was an accident I myself have kill men in the tilt and I feel remorse for everyone, I think only if my lance wasn't so high but want is done is done so work off your debt and be proud you repaid it with honor."

Ser Hubert Waters enters the funeral dressed all in the colors of mourning. Seeing Syward's body he sobs, he stumbles across the room until he reaches the body. Falling to his knees he takes Spicer's cold hand and holds it to his face as he weeps and weeps. Keening wails that almost sound like some one's name shake Waters' whole body.

"Thank you, my lord," Garrett said, bowing his head to Lord Rindwynd. "But Addam was only a year younger than me, and I should have known better than to let him challenge Ser Timm Vikary. I should have known better than to give him my armor and lance and let him enter the joust. We thought it was all in good fun."
He turned away and began to search the chambers of the sept for Lord Rhodri.
