"He's gone North. He went in answer to the High Septon's call, before matters were resolved through other means. I've heard nothing of him since, but I suppose there are fewer opportunities to send a raven in the North. I'm hoping he'll be on his way home by now."

"Unfortunate. Being trapped and away from one's family is not a circumstance I would wish on anyone. Hopefully your brother will be home soon enough too," Gwayne ventured. "I fear I know little of Leyton now. His years with your family have made him near a stranger to me."

"That's good at least," Gwayne observed. "So both of us have kinsmen missing in the North. A strange kind of coincidence, is it not? Did your brother go to answer the High Septon's call too?"

"I see. Her name is...Elinor maybe? Alys? Elsa? Elyssa? Something of that sort. One of the Stark brothers squired for me a while ago, but I don't believe I ever met the sister. But, yes, I can see how difficult that would be for your brother." He paused, thinking. "I hope he came to no harm. A Lannister would make a useful hostage had the Starks wanted to cause trouble."

Gwayne had to laugh at that, since he knew far better than she did how much war could inconvenience a person.
"It really can be. I fear you would be even more shocked if you knew what army camps are like, and how crowded the maesters' tents can become. It is not a sight for a highborn lady, though. We are very lucky that Lord Stark backed down. I've no desire to see the realm go to war again so soon."

"Is that so? I confess my desire to visit is based more on simple curiosity than scholarly pursuit. I suppose it must be useful for your house, to have the Archmaesters so readily at hand." Gareth nodded and smiled. "Very useful." he agreed. "I plan to use their knowledge where I can in the future. Indeed they have recently been very helpful in some recent endeavours of mine that I hope will reap extensive rewards one day." "Recent endeavors?" Bayard queried. "What sort of endeavors would those be? It sounds intriguing."

"It will become evident one day Lord Bayard. I intend that your niece will be well provided for." replied Gareth enigmatically.

Bayard raised an eyebrow at that. "Some variety of mercantile endeavor, then?" he asks.

"I could bear it," Sansa said stoutly. "I'm not a lily." "I did not say you were," he replied. "But nobody can be prepared for the sight of a battlefield, nor even an army camp, until they have experienced it for themselves. I hope you never have to."

"That is for the best, I think. Some things are best not spoken of," Gwayne ventured. "Let us speak no more of war, my lady."

"I write letters, of course, but otherwise I am not inclined to write things for myself," he admitted. "I'm happy to read the works of others now and then but I have had little time to read since before the war. It certainly is a good idea, I agree. I am sure the Citadel will thank you, one day. This is exactly the kind of information they would consider valuable."

"Perhaps they are," he murmured. "I am no expert when it comes to poetry. I know there are some poems in High Valryian and so forth that require a set number of lines and syllables and so forth, but that never interested me very much. But folk tales are well and good, of course. Though what do you do when there are three versions of the same story?"

Nymeria Lannister walked boredly around the hall, already having cause a bit of a scene to her absolute delight. Her dark red dress was just low enough to draw wandering eyes and not low enough to be completely out of place. With one hand fumbling with an earring she looked around for some fun.

Nymeria spotted her sister and gave her a wink, considering whether to join her or not. No doubt it would make her highly uncomfortable.
