Edric happened to be sitting next to Isabel, who greeted him with a friendly smile. "Good evening," she said brightly. "I hope you like the Hightower? Are your quarters to your liking?"

"That is good to know." Yet Gwayne wondered about his cousin Leyton, whose quest now seemed a fool's errand. That bothered him. He'd never really wanted Leyton to go, and would have liked to see his cousin compete in the tournament, yet it was done now. "A war would have benefitted none of us. Are any of your new friends the Manderlys likely to join us here?" "Alas, no," Bayard responds. "Though war was averted, there is still much work to be done in smoothing over the new situation. I will have to travel to White Harbor myself in the coming days, but I could not miss my niece's wedding."

"My cousin has gone North, as it happens. Perhaps he can be of some assistance to you. I hope you will let me know if there is anything I can do to help. I very much wish to see peace in the North."

"Went North for what cause?" Bayard asks with some curiosity.

"To answer the High Septon's call. I would have preferred him not to go, but he is young and full of ideals. Devout too, our Leyton. Hopefully he will come home soon. He will have a place at the Hightower as long as he wishes it. But I could hardly deny him this."

"Brave," Bayard remarks. "It seems his sword will not be necessary, but if his faith compels him to remain in the North I am sure Lord Manderly can find a use for him."

Lord Commander Stark approached Gwayne and Bayard. "Did I hear mention of your cousin, Ser Leyton, Lord Royce? I spoke with him a bit when he was last in the Capital. A fine lad."

"Let us hope so. I would prefer Leyton to find his service of use before he returns to us. After all, it was his first quest as a knight. I hope you will find everything to your satisfaction while you are here. Is there anything you lack?"

"I have a place to sleep, food to eat, and a Queen to protect. I need nothing else."

Edric happened to be sitting next to Isabel, who greeted him with a friendly smile. "Good evening," she said brightly. "I hope you like the Hightower? Are your quarters to your liking?" Edric smiled in return and recognized the young woman from one of the King's Landings parties. "Lady Isabel, if I recall correctly?" he inquired. "Ah yes. It is a nice change from the capital. How have you been?"

"I am very well," she said. "And yes, I am Isabel Hightower. You are Edric Stark, I believe? I am quite pleased to be home though. I love Kings Landing but Oldtown is pretty and so much more familiar." She smiled sweetly. "I'm so pleased we're not going to war with your house. Are you going to compete in the tourney?"

Meanwhile, Gwayne smiled at Rickon.
"Ah, a man of simple needs," he said. "That will make my job rather easier. But I'm pleased you are content. I didn't know you had met my cousin though. He did not speak of such. Lord Royce and I were remarking upon the situation in the North. I for one am pleased we will be playing at war here in Oldtown, rather than fighting for real in the North."

Edric nodded as she spoke. "As am I," he replied amiably. "The last war was more than enough. I believe so; I like the melee with teams. Unsure where I will find five other Northmen, though. If my uncle is even interested in participating, that is," he said, glancing at the engaged Lord Commander briefly.

"Ah, well, you will be most welcome to participate if you can find the men. Surely some of your fellow Northmen came south too," Izzy said hopefully. "They may be on their way even now. But I asure your uncle would wish to represent the honour of his house and the Kingsguard both."

"If you'll take an old man like me, I'll join with you, Edric. And might be that a few more souls will be fooled into joining after they hear my name."
