Rose smiled, "I love that puppy. I thought about buying him a horse so he could come with us."

"At least now I have found how to keep that smile on your face." he remarked warmly. He left unsaid that he could not see that close bond lasting with Lord Stark's folly. "Your grandfather mentioned Lord Gwayne and Lord Donnel have made their intentions for your hand known as well."

Rose nodded slowly, "And a few other men who my grandfather would never mention. He only thinks of the large houses."

"Any I should accustom my mind to the the thought of bowing before?" he asked in a light-hearted manner. "We can speak of lighter topics of you wish. I had hoped to inquire for a book recommendation."

"None of them have really impressed me much." Rose replied and then smiled to herself, "As for books what subjects do you like? Besides war and military strategy."

"It is good for a queen to have discerning tastes." he remarked, impressed at her demeanor. "I had hoped for a tome on naval engagements, those across the Narrow Sea as well as those closer to home." he requested, slightly sheepish. "As well as any studies of Volantine symbology. Then perhaps something of a lighter nature as well, when those subjects begin to weigh on my eyelids."

"I have only read three volumes on naval warfare, and were very basic. I am sure they would be insulting to you." Rose replied, "I have not read much about Volantine Symbology I am afraid. As for lighter nature I have many suggestions, but the best was a satirical volume about a Braavosi man switching places with a Westerosi knight, and the two of them experiencing one another's lands and culture. It is called the Wayward Wavedancer. Amazing."

"I would read them just the same." was his hasty reply, before composing himself. "Even the Master of Ships must study the fundamentals from time to time."
"I will pick up this Wayward Wavedancer as well." he added, the story honestly sounding fascinating to him.

Rose told him the three titles, "That last was the best. It really made me understand why a strong fleet is so important."

Oswyn committed them to memory with thanks.
"Do you have any friends in the capital, Your Grace, or just advisors and protectors?" he asked, curious.

Rose thought a moment, and replied, "I have a couple of friends. Not that many, but I always never an outgoing child."

"That is good." he said with equal parts relief and skepticism. "Keep them close."
"I hope you can count myself amongst them in time."

"Of course, Oswyn." Rose replied and offered him a small smile, but he did not believe her.

"Those are not just words on the wind, Your Grace." he said, in earnest. "There is no burden so great that I would not help you bear it. Know that to be true. I would take the same oath as the Lord Commander if you wished it." he said, inclining his head to the white cloak.

"Thank you Oswyn. It is quite a kind gesture, but you do not have to take the white unless you truly want it." Rose replied.
