She sounded so young, Bayard thought. The Lord of the Vale bows formally. "It is an honor, Your Grace. May I ask why you chose me as your Master of Laws?" It was a question Bayard knew the answer to, but he was curious how Rose would respond.

"It does please me, Your Grace. I can only hope that my service proves worthy of your trust. Have you had the opportunity to meet my family? My son Donnel and niece, Jennalyn, preceded my arrival to the city."

Rose laughed, "Lord Bayard do not pretend you are one of those people that think that a crown gives wisdom. If anything it clouds it."
