"How could we turn down such a generous offer?" Oswyn asked with a smile that did not quite reach his eyes, unwilling to admit he had considered exactly that.
Ever gallant, he waited for his wife to be sat before taking the place set for him.
"I will partake of whichever vintage you favor this evening, Prince Evan." he said genially enough, wishing to appear a well-mannered guest without admitting his desire to ensure they were served from the same decanter.

"Think of it more like a preemptive alliance, no one wants to fight a two sided war and so having the people to the extreme south on your side helps that." He sat back and articulated in his head what he was about to say,"The Riverlands are vulnerable, we are in the exact center of Westeros with no real geographic borders. But because you are on the other side of the Reach and Stormlands, you would act as a deterrent to anyone with nefarious goals in those areas." /////////////////////////// Meryn nodded and continued to sip on his wine,"Olyna, tell me a story about Dorne." Evan looked at the Tully,"Premptive? Really? So you want us to step infront of the sword before it reaches the Riverlands?" He glanced at his sister, then back to Aemon,"And you have some idea that these nefarious characters are aiming their sights on the Riverlands as we speak or was that just an academic question?" "I am not the warrior type such as Lyssa here", he smiled at her,"But I am sure whatever she decides for Dorne to do would be best." //// "What is there to tell except, in it's barreness we have beauty. Our lands provide the fruit of the Seven Kingdoms", she smiled. "You see us as heathens or less worthy compared to your Lords and Ladies, but we are also a strong people." Her eyes sparkled in speaking of her lands,"Dorne welcomes all who come to her, but Sunspear is the jewel of the desert. The water gardens are beautiful, here the children swim... All children, rich or poor share in the joy of swimming in the water. Even our Princes and Princesses join. We love all that we have." Olyna looked at the knight,"You should come visit", she nodded with a smile. Aemon shook his head,"You would not be stepping in front of a sword, the idea is that you would even stop swords from being drawn and vice versa. We would deter anyone wanting to do Dorne harm. ///////////////////////// Meryn closed his eyes when she had started speaking, to better picture her words. He opened them slowly and sighed,"That actually sounds amazing, maybe one day I can visit these Water Gardens." He finished his cup and set it down.

Lyssandra felt like she had heard enough and that the discussion was going in circles, "Thank you for your wisdom Ser. I respect house Tully and I think we should be friends. If we see you need help in a matter, we will strongly consider helping." She stood, "Do you need any assistance returning to your manse?"

While Evan went on about wine Lyssandra stood by a chair, one hand on top of it, waiting to seat herself until after at least one of them sat. "Did my brother pay you to come?" She asked after she heard Oswyn say how her brother was so generous. "You must be well sought after guests."

The topic of horses was definitely within her range of things to discuss, "It is good that you like the horse, they are not for everyone. Sometimes, bigger is not always better." She looked to Amelia, "If you would like another, you must let me know." For some reason her sister being generous with gifts bothered her, probably for the reason that she had not thought of such a thing first. Her sister had always bothered her, it was good that she was gone from Sunspear. "Perhaps we can exchange horses, a Stormland Steed for a Dornish one, for your husband for my self."

"I have seen such horses in battle, they perform admirably. I would say that they were most impressive out of all the cavalry through the campaign." She thought it a little odd that a horse be used as a showpiece rather than a weapon in battle, but for the sake of being nice she restrained herself. Lyssandra looked at Oswyn, "Did you think the same Lord Oswyn?"

"A steed bred to be surefooted enough to maneuver the treacherous roots of the Kingswood is well-suited for the chaos of battle." Oswyn chimed in, taking great pride in his stables. "Though we have less cavalry than most, the Stormlands benefit from its surefooted horses and the experienced knights that mount them. The Dornish spears certainly proved their worth as well. I was curious to see if they would still thrive without the benefit of their defensive passes, and was not disappointed."

"I believe that it was the experience of both of our forces that carried us through that long campaign." She tapped the table with her fingers, "I do not mean to detract from the others that were there, but we did have a history of joining forces before to take the islands. In the future Westeros will not be so united as we all were in this last campaign." Lyssandra looked to a servant and told them to start bringing out the food. She was hungry.

She nodded. "I think so too. But we signed a peace agreement with the Free Cities, there is no one to band together to fight against anymore. I think my brother Evan is the more hopeful one. For me, well, I control our armies. I have to think about these things." She was going to add she would rather not think about those things, but that would have been a lie. She liked planning.

"I would like that. The soldiers definitely deserve a break, and the peasants need to tend to their crops." Lyssandra impatiently waited for her food, "Lord Tully is quite adamant that house Martell support him in conflict." She looked at Amelia and Oswyn for a reaction.

Oswyn had nodded sagely, agreeing with Lyssandra's prediction, glum as it was.
"Conflict with whom?" he asked, interest piqued by the mention of an alliance between Dorne and the Riverlands. "The Reach is the only region with which you share a border."

"He did not make it clear to me but I was also approached by an elder Tully who seemed very anxious about making an alliance with Dorne. I shared the very same knowledge with him, that we have borders well away from the Riverlands, and with separate territories in between us. Maybe this anxiety comes from this exiled prince."

"I would be more wary of the traitor's friends in the North than any to the South." Oswn replied, considering Tully's apparent desperation. "Troubling that a lord would reveal his anxieties so plainly."

"Well the Lord Tully himself, a man I do consider a friend. I consider his opinions. There was also an Aemon Tully, whom I never really had an experience with provide a house call to me."

"As you say." Oswyn allowed, having not developed a real opinion of the man other than he made an excellent pincushion.
