Rickon snorted out loud, but waited for Gareth to obey his commands.

"I know my place Ser. I am a Lord, a Hightower and heir to the Far Reach." snarled Gareth, knocking the Lord Commander's hand aside. "It is you who does not know his place. You do not come to my city and command me, nor any Hightower."

"The Queen will be safe, Lord Stark," Bayard replies. He is flanked by knights, and cannot see at all, but his tone is firm. "Lord Gareth is trustworthy. But if you do not believe him, I will guarantee my men towards protecting the Queen as well."

"This fool could not hurt a kiiten Blind man." Rickon replied, "I do not fear anything but his incompetence. And I would like to teach him a lesson about manners." His hand touched the hilt of his sword with a tender flourish.

Gareth made no move to stand aside. With a flick of his hand, the young Hightower lord beckoned to four Hightower guards men who had watched with incredulity and mounting anger as the foreign knight had struck their lord's brother. The guards moved to Gareth's shoulder in support and stood bristling at the Commander.
"Your Grace. Your servant here struck me - a Lord of the realm - without good cause." Gareth stated matter-of-factly, but not rudely to the Queen. He raised his voice so both companies, including Lord Bayard's could hear. "Despite this insult to House Hightower and the Far Reach and if you so desire, I will now fulfil my duties and escort you, as well as Lord Bayard, safely to Lord Gwayne who awaits your arrival."

Edric had sat atop his horse near the queen, observing the spectacle in silence. Granted, the situation could have been handled better, but the young Hightower's inability to act like a man about it just justified the blow in hindsight. It was as if Ser Rickon had known the man was a whiner.

Jennalynn sat atop her horse, riding among her uncle's retinue instead of near the Queen. She was watching the events and felt a pang of pride when Ser Gareth shrugged off the blow that the Lord Commander had given him and continued on to be the gallant knight that she had heard him to be. She had always seen the Lord Commander to be a understanding man, but there seemed to be something bothering the man since Jennalynn couldn't think that the Lord Commander would act that way a few months ago, but maybe she didn't know the man as well as she thought.

"Thank you, Lord Gareth," Bayard says stolidly. All the Small Council was a mixture of pride, ego, and ambition, and now he was one of them, gods help him. He was not even sure he was so different, but such a public scene of rudeness on the Lord Commander's part still made Bayard feel scornful. A man must master his emotions, else they would master him. "We shall follow your lead. I trust you will compete in the tournament?" he asks, changing the subject.

"I shall be." replied Gareth to Lord Bayard. Casting a scornful look at the Lord Commander, he turned his back on him. and moved to his horse. Mounting quickly, he looked back to the Queen and Lord Bayard.
"Now my lord. Your Grace. If you would follow me." He clicked his tongue and his horse began moving through the gates.

Since Lord Tully is an ally to House Hightower, their party is welcomed warmly and shown to pleasant quarters befitting their rank. As one of the future bridegrooms, Ser Benin is given a room to himself with a large bed suitable for his impending wedding night.

Given recent events, Lord Hightower had doubled the guard on all the gates to prevent anyone leaving. The leader of this particular guard patrol was one of Lord Hightower's household knights.
"What you want with Lord Hightower?" The man yelled down.

"I'm here on behalf of my Lord Saxon Cave. It seems we're a bit late for the festivities though, these men are sure to be disappointed." Finn says, "What seems to be the trouble?"
