Sain had come into the room whilst wandering the castle's halls. He looked for a moment at the body quickly dismissing it, only for instinct to bring his gaze back. His eyes grew wide and he drew his blade.
"Seven hells." he edged towards the exit and opened the door. "Assassin!" he yelled as loudly as he could. "We have a man down in the Lord's bedroom!"

He swore under his breath. He ordered half the gods to fetch Alys and Annara, and to spread the news for everyone to be on their guard for anyone suspicious. He orders the others to search the room for any trace of the killer.
Sain nervously thinks on putting his blade away but can't bring himself to do it.

Alys Florent, a Hightower cousin being raised at the castle, happened to be within hearing distance. She ran towards the door and entered. "Oh gods! The poor man." She began looking around for anythign suspicious in the room.

One minute Karys had not been in the room, the next she was, wearing dark flowing garb as she usually did.
She looked with amusement at Sain, although it did not extend to her eyes, behind which rapid thought was occurring. "Put your sword away, Ser, you shall have no need of it now." She said, turning her attention to the body.
"This is most disturbing..." she muttered, almost to herself. "I shall have to make inquiries..." the next part of what she said was indiscernible but sounded like names, softly whispered.

The man's body lied on its face. A pool of blood sopped into a rug. His throat was cut from side to side. His sword still laid sheathed.

Karys glanced up at the uncle of the Lord, her long silky hair flowing around her thin head. "Who was this man? Where was he posted? When? If you do not know find someone who does and report back to me." She instructed him, taking charge of the situation.

Sain kept his sword out. "His sword stayed sheathed and look where it got him, excuse a knight for keeping ready." he sighed and let his guard drop slightly. "Why do you think this happened? Was it a message? What was it?"

Was it a message? What was it?" His light haired opposed frowned. "I do not know, and without that information it is possible we never will. If you want your answers, you will get ones for my questions, Ser. Find me when you have answers." She stood and silently strode from the room.

Alys was searching the body of the corpse for clues. She searched his uniform, his weapons and his pockets.

The guard had a pouch of coins in his pocket, mostly silver but a couple gold coins as well.

Alys looked up from the coins in her hand. "Sain! Come look at this? Why does a guard have gold coins? That's a whole year's pay, at least!"
