//////////
Annara Hightower stepped outside to get some air. She looked all around curiously since she had never been to this particular godswood before now.

Lady Joanna Stark emerged into the fresh air of the Godswood and let out an audible sigh. This was more her environment; here among the trees and away from the crush of the celebrants inside. Even the few faces she glimpsed here and there in the wood didn't bother her.

Annara turned and looked at the other woman who had just entered the godswood after her. She smiled politely.
"It was awfully hot inside, wasn't it? So many people! I don't think I have seen so many lords and ladies together in all my life."

Joanna was surprised to have someone speak to her, though she supposed it wasn't so very strange, not here, at an event to draw the entire realm together. "T-terribly! I could hardly move without treading on someone's toes!" She laughed nervously.

"No, truly. There are some who measure the success of an event by the size of the crowd," said Annara, with a confiding smile. "But if that is the case, there is such a thing as too much success, is there not? Comfort is important too, and some of the guests had clearly not used their perfumes."

Joanna couldn't help but giggle a little at that. "You're right. And here in this southern heat, one needs perfumes far more, I should think." She laid a hand against the rough bark of a nearby tree. "Here the air is so fresh, I can almost imagine I am at home. Do you not prefer your home to gatherings such as this?" She realized she had said quite a lot and felt her face begin to color.

"At the moment, yes. The Hightower is certainly capable of hosting large gatherings, but I prefer slightly smaller parties, myself. And intimate gatherings of family and friends are very special, of course."
She paused and tidied a strand of hair.
"And now you know where I live, perhaps you would care to offer the same?"

Eirek also made his way to the Godswood, much preferring its quiet to the crowded bustle of parties and feasts. He was surprised to see so many folk among the trees, but figured it was better than indoors. Seeing Lady Joanna and another woman, he approached.
"Mother. Thought I might find you here. Who is your friend?"

"Oh!" exclaimed Joanna, realising that she hadn't properly introduced herself. "Pardon me. I am Lady Joanna Stark of Winterfell." As she finished she noticed Eirek approaching. It was still strange, even after these five years, to be called Mother by a young man so near to her own age. He was a good lad, though. "Please meet my stepson, Eirek. I...sorry, I don't think you said your name, Lady...?" She trailed off, looking expectantly at the Hightowere lady to furnish her name.

"Hightower. Lady Hightower," said Annara, wondering that the other woman had not picked up on her reference to the Hightower. My friends call me Annara. And greetings, Eirik."
She smiled over at the young man.
"We were just remarking upon the success of the event."

"Oh, yes, a lovely affair. Though I'm sure the wedding itself will put the rest of the events to shame," He replied, while thinking, Yes, wonderful to spend weeks traveling down the Kingsroad to see the Targaryens fritter away our taxes.

"I should hope so," Annara replied, eyeing the young man with curiosity. "A royal wedding is a rare thing and must be properly honoured. The royal family must be seen to do honour both to their own house and to the family of their newest member. And naturally such an event requires witnesses to make the Tyrells' triumph all the more splendid."

"It's quite lovely, with the food and everything prepared just so. And all the candles! A fortune in candles!" She was glad Eirek had found her. It was so much easier for Joanna to speak to strangers when family was at her side. Even in conversations about nothing, such as this. "I find myself missing the cold air sweeping down from the far north, though. It would feel so refreshing here in the capitol."

"Winter is Coming, as always. There will be a chill here sooner or later. But yes, I do miss it. And it is strange seeing a Godswood with no weirwood."

"Oh. I don't know very much about weirwoods and the Old Gods," Annara replied. "We've the Starry Sept in Oldtown, of course, and House Redwyne worships the Seven too. But old traditions are important. I will never follow your gods, but I respect you for worshipping them as your ancestors did."
She paused.
"As for the winds, we mostly get sea breezes in Oldtown, though it can be windy at the top of the Hightower."
