"Truth be told I spend more time with my nose in the books than with the other children. There are your normal divisions and cliques but you know that Maester." Gregor was hardly a child though at Maester Lymon's age he might still think of them so.

"What do you plan on doing when you leave the Hightower?" Lymon asked?

"Leave?" He asked "I wasn't aware that leaving was an option." His lord father had followed Lord Arryn and as such ended on the losing side. He had just assumed that once he came here he would stay here.
Gregor wasn't sure that he wanted to leave. The libraries and tutors were amongst the best to be found in the realm.

"A day will come when you will be allowed to leave Gregor. Even if it is not today." Lymon replied.

"Then I fear I have no plans. Being a second son I have nothing to return to. I believe my father wanted to forge some alliance with Hightower. It doesn't appear that he will get his wish." Gregor looked around the room. He was used to talking while paging through a book or looking over diagrams.

"Gregor leaving does not mean you have to stay away forever." Lymon said, "If you wish to serve Lord Garnet we will find a place for you."

"What do you suggest that I do?" It was evident that Gregor respected Maester Lymon's opinion.

"Have you thought about attending the Citadel?" Lymon asked immediately.

"I have indeed, though I have reservations..." Gregor looked at the floor, his cheeks flushing. "I have no wish to take a wife and have children but I would like to bed a woman. He was not real popular with the ladies and had not had an opportunity to be with one intimately. "I would like to travel at some point as well. There are many wonders outside of Hightower that I would like to see."

"Do not fear you will not insult me by choosing a different path." Lymon said, "But I should let you know I traveled, and I loved a woman both before I toke the vows."

"That is good to know Maester. I will give it serious consideration." He said truthfully. "If I had no interest in that path, what would you suggest that I do?"

"You are quite clever and I know you could serve our interests well in many ways." Lymon said, "When Garnet returns ask him if there is a place for you at court one day."

"Speak with Lord Hightower!" He said as if the notion of doing so were inconceivable. "I .... I couldn't. He is the Hand of the King and I am....well I doubt he even knows who I am."

"I have mentioned your name to him. He may not know the face, but the name of Gregor Corbray is in his mind." Lymon replied.

Gregor sat for a moment. When he studied or performed tasks he was never this conflicted. Finally he looked up and spoke with a decisive tone "I will serve wherever you think it best. I have been treated well, and received an education that most can only dream of."
