"As your uncle, the male head of our house and Regent of Highgarden, I would have thought that my father would have at least been consulted. These Hightowers ride roughshod over our family rights." replied Rycherd with some venom.

"Yes, well, he will not be Regent for too long, perhaps they're preparing him for that," Dany said and paused. "How did your talk with Maester Lymon go?"

"It was made clear that I was little more than a hostage...not a fosterling." replied Rycherd. "I take it the Hightowers are preparing to take over Highgarden and rule it through you."

Dany gave him a knowing smirk. "Please. I am marrying Michael. Have you met the man? Although I am supposed to stay here until I bear him a boy," she said, grinning at the thought, not because she found the thought amusing, but because she was never going to do it.

Rycherd looked exasperated. "As your husband, Michael will expect to rule Highgarden. If he has not the inclination, his father the Hand will appoint one of his own relatives to do that in his stead. Your only job of significance will be to bear Hightower children. If you cannot then you will never return to Highgarden."

"Oh, I think I am capable of bearing children," Dany began, but scrunched her nose at the thought. "And Michael isn't interested in anything but his sword. His relatives are welcome to try," she said with a playful smirk. "Are you here to propose something, then, or just to lament my inevitable future?"

"I came to inquire about the disposition of my favorite cousin." replied Rycherd. "Especially in light of her impending marriage."
He took another sip of wine. "So do you see your future as a Hightower wife and mother as inevitable?" he asked.

"I'm your only cousin," Dany said, raising an eyebrow at him, but kept her playful demeanour. She shrugged. "Surely they'll let me keep my name? Highgarden is the Tyrell seat."

"Are you?" replied Rycherd with a smile. "That's why you're my favorite. And as my favorite cousin I have only your interests and those of our house at heart."
He looked at her intently his momentary cheerfulness fading.
"The Hightowers may let you keep your name but any children by Michael Hightower will be Hightowers and they will eventually rule Highgarden. And where does that leave the Tyrell name? In the dust Dany."

Dany frowned. "No, my children will still be Tyrells," she said stubbornly. "Because I am the heir. It's been done before.. I think."

"They'll be whatever the Hightowers decide." replied Rycherd. "You'll have no say whatsoever. Do you really think that they'll allow one of their own and his children take the name of their enemy and rival?"
He shook his head. "I do not know how to make you see what these Hightowers are Dany. Do you really mean to go meekly to this marriage?"

"I don't think they no longer see us as rivals," Dany said dryly. "What would you have me do then, go kicking and screaming?"

"Use your wiles to delay it as long as possible." urged Rycherd.
His eyes narrowed.
"You don't wish for the match do you?"

"I think a lion already took care of that," Dany said, sighing. "Which also means I probably can't go to Highgarden."
She rolled her eyes. "He is a Hightower, what do you think? But I would much rather marry him than Joss or Anthony."

"A lion?" said Rycherd puzzled, unaware of anything happening to Michael Hightower.
"Michael may a better candidate than Joss or Anthony, but they are all Hightowers." he continued after a short pause. "Give me time and I will endeavor to ensure that you do not marry any Hightower.
He thought for a moment. "What we need in the short-term are allies. Are you aware of any that we might assist us in frustrating the Hightower plans for us? Surely not all of Hightower's fosterlings bear a great love for him or his family."
