"I... argh!" Baelor complained, closing his eyes and grinding his teeth hard with the effort.

Derek smiled, "And you are just holding it. Imagine trying to bash it through a suit of armor. While he bashes back." He looked around at the other students, "All the while sweating, and being so scared you can barely keep from wetting yourself. While the worse smells accost your nose, and horrible sounds echo in your ears." He sighed contentedly, "It is a wonderful thing."

Brandon held his head high and thought about standing tall in the Bronze armour of his house.

Gerold stands near the edge of the yard, a look of disgust plain to see on his features at the thought. War is a messy prospect. And unpredictable.

"It doesn't sound that great to me..." Baelor said to Derek, dropping the sword and holding his arm in agony. "Bloody hells!"

Aaryn followed Rodrik, positioning himself opposite the Stormlander. "Ready." he said simply, raising his shield. Rodrik started to side-step, something Ser Derek had instilled in them at an early age. Slowly moving in a circle, Rodrik could feel the blood in his veins starting to pulse, a notion that he was unaccustomed to when "fighting" the training posts. Thinking that he saw an opening, he swung his longsword towards Aaryn's left, hoping to be quicker than his opponent's shield.

Raig picked up a blunt ended spear and began thwacking away at a straw dummy.

Aaryn, who had been turning his body to keep Rodrik in front of him threw up his shield. He wasn't as quick as he usually was, given that he was sporting a mild headache, but he managed to get his shield up in the nick of time. He then tried to counterattack by thrusting his sword low toward Rodrik's shins.

Rodrik's swing had left him vulnerable, and Aaryn's low strike was too quick for him to react with his own shield. The sword plowed into his shin, and Rodrik bit his lip to keep himself from yelping. His shin smarting in pain, he brought his sword and shield close to his body.
Ugh, stupid idea. Remember to always protect yourself! thought the boy, as he mentally chastised himself.

Aaryn, however was slow to press his advantage. He tried a cut toward Rodrik's left side, but even as he was swinging the blade, he knew that it hadn't been delivered fast enough.

Rodrik easily brought his shield up in time, and felt the sword thump against the wooden buckler. Countering Aaryn's swing, Rodrik thrust his own sword forward, aiming for his opponent's extended arm.

Aaryn tried to pull his arm away but was too slow.
The sword slammed into his arm, and although he was armored, Aaryn knew he'd be sporting a large bruise there. He clenched his teeth, trying to ignore the pain and defend himself from Rodrik's next attack. Stepping back, he raised his shield to protect his torso.

Sporting a small smirk, Rodrik decided to press the attack. Hoping to catch Aaryn of guard, he backswung his sword, but noticed all too late that Aaryn's own sword was poised to parry it.

Hardly believing his good fortune, Aaryn switched from defense to attack in the blink of a eye. He brought his sword up to parry Selmy's attack before using his shield to try to push him back and knock him off balance.

"It doesn't sound that great to me..." Baelor said to Derek, dropping the sword and holding his arm in agony. "Bloody hells!" Derek smiled, "I do not think you are quite ready for Ice. We will call your sword Bucket of Water." He kicked up the sword to his hand.
