She could not see the snake under the table, but could hear its deadly slither across the wooden floor.

Myranda slowly started moving back away from the table, being out more in the open had both advantages and disadvantages but she wanted to at least be able to see it. She didn't want to move too fast. But was aware of the sound of it's slither. So knew it was at least moving. She wanted to look up at Piers, but she knew better than to avert her eyes from looking for a second, so moved back with her eyes on the floor.

In a blink it was there lasing toward her ankles. And faster then sight she saw a blade flash in, and behead it. Piers was moving toward her with determination. He studied her exposed flesh, "Were you bit... any where?"

Myranda shook her head, staring at the decapitated snakes head with a soft frown, if she hadn't have moved she would have, if Piers had not stepped in she still would have. "I've never know snakes act in such a way, they are usually so non confrontational." She said softly, still staring. "Are you okay?"

Piers nodded, "I am fine as long as you are." He took her hand and led her into the room the servant had entered. The kitchen was empty, the back door wide open, "It seems I was betrayed."

"That is somewhat ironic." She said, it would usually have been playful, but her voice this time was very even. "The obvious question would, of course be who they betrayed you for." Myranda looked at the door and squeezed his hand in return.

Piers laughed, "The list is endless." He thought a moment, "Well... are you comfortable staying here? Or should we get a room at the inn." He smiled, "To be honest though... the reason I wish to stay here is because I hope the next assassin the send will have a tongue. So we can have a chat."

"Here? An Inn? Will it make a terrible amount of difference?" She asked, frowning again, and sighing. She wanted Marq here now, not that she would ever say it."I suppose here you at least know the place. I do not mind staying." She said and looked round at him and gave him a lopsided smile, "I'll have to insist on food of a less acquired taste though, I don't think I can stomach snakes and spiders and scorpions every day."

Piers stepped close, and kissed her. "I promise I will find you something much more appetizing to eat." He walked to the food stores, and began to sort thought them. "Sit down, and I will make you something. Any preference?"

"None, I am very easy," she replied with a grin and jumped up so she was sitting on one of the preparation surfaces across the room from where he was foraging and crossed her legs, looking round the room, "would you like any help?"

Piers looked at her, and smiled, his tongue licking his lips, "I will make dinner, you are in charge of desert? So start thinking of some thing sweet you can prepare for me." He checked the oven to make sure there was a fire, before pulling out a pot, and walking to the pump well.

"I am afraid I don't know much about deserts," Myranda replied, her eyes following him round the room, "we just ate fruits mostly, as it is so hot round Godsgrace, juicy fruits like strawberries and grapes went someway to helping us cool down. Lucky for you though, fruit is very sweet. Do you have any?" She asked, grinning more.

Piers chuckled, and nodded, "We should... in the Pantry." He nodded toward the door from the room. He began to cut vegetables, and add spices to the water. He whistled to himself as he cut quickly.

"Worse than spiders and snakes, the fruit be overly ripened, I think I know which I would prefer." She said and lowered herself back to the floor to go and check. She came back soon with some grapes and a couple of peaches. "We do not really get peaches in Dorne, the soil is wrong, I think, but they were always my favourite when I was little. I tend to get the juice all down me though."

Piers had grabbed a duck from another room, and was butchering it. "I myself have an unending desire for plums." He licked his lips, and sighed, "Were there any back there? They tend to be hard to find in this cursed city."
